Yeah they just don't have the fitness to keep up and its obvious they've never played together for the most part. And they lack the talent. Three big crosses
Some of these top ups are very handy footballers, league quality.

Others not so much.

Hey could anyone please let me know which of our new recruits are playing the sanfl today? I though Wigg was playing over in WA. Didn't they go on about his amazing pre season?

What's Ramsey and wigg and hunter doing? Going ok
I like Ramsey. Every time I've seen him play I thought he'd shown something. Took me a while to realise wigg was playing. Once I did I thought he was pretty good. Fairly hard at it for a little fella.
Not sure if it's lowdown or hunter but one of seemed to be going pretty well. Dominating hitouts albeit against a pretty average oponent

Prahran to Strurt? Double blues to double blues. I'm an old Prahran boy.

Far out, the only way you could be this bad at tackling is have it coached in to you! A new to footy person isn't this bad! We must have specialist tackling coaches, ones that teach tackling methods that are especially easy to be broken!!

Yeah when we've got our reserves players back from the NAB and there's only the best half dozen or so top ups playing we'll be able to put up a contest

What was the point to us playing that game? Not enough of our AFL listed players running around to make it a worthwhile exercise.
Give the top-ups a run, see which ones are likely to feature more often. Spencely, Johncock and obviously Carey should play alot of the year if not all.

Only had six AFL-listed players out there, three of which were rookies: Wigg, Hampton, Lowden plus Greenwood, Hunter and Ramsey

"Left-footer Wigg spent the majority of the match in a new midfield role. The second-year Crow was Adelaide’s most prolific onballer, although official statistics were not recorded at the game."

"Hampton played the game’s first three quarters, using his athleticism to set up the Crows from defence regularly."

"Ramsey worked hard and kicked two set shot goals from limited opportunity."

"Greenwood featured predominately in attack in his first official match in eight years, although was released up the ground during the latter stages."

"Lowden and Hunter rotated ruck and forward line duties, with Hunter rested after half-time as part of his load management."

Now i am really confused, over the last few years Marty and Red & Black had me convinced that part of the money the sma (sanfl) took (gouged) from the afc was to fund grass roots footy.

The centrals guy on 5aa has just told me glenelg dont fund/support their country area (think he said the south east) due to money issues and that the afl should provide money for grass roots footy in sa.

He even said they can't drop the amounts they pay to ex afl players as they won't play sanfl anymore.

This was my exact thoughts on why the sanfl "needed" so much money - it had nothing to do with grass roots footy and was all about continuing to pay the players above what their comp could afford.

Lo and behold the crows and port aren't owned by the sanfl anymore and outcomes the hand to he afl, bloody leeches.

Can we use the 400k to play our reserves in the vfl please. Curtain raises at home, the whole squad travelling as one for melbourne games, playing against clubs who are playing their afl game plan so many positives.

Interesting Chisel named best player. Will have been disappointed not to get a run in NAB1 or 2. Good to see him rebound well from that.

Given how high we drafted him we need to start seeing him in action some stage this year. Would hate to go in to year 3 without seeing what he can do. He's not a key position or ruckman taking time to develop

Bit disappointed Luke Lowden doesn't seem to have had a "big" game, surely we would have expected him to absolutely dominate at this level after reportedly having completed a full preseason this summer. If we don't start to see some progress from him pronto we should just upgrade ROB permanently and send big Luke packing?

I think that is why the club recruited Hunter and why ROB got the gig this weekend in WA.

Correct - hes thereabouts but needs to keep putting his name forward like today.

At a minimum he has to be pressuring selectors

I think Glenelg's problem is they've sucked for quite a while now and it's hurting their membership numbers. So they feel the need to bring in ex-AFL guys on decent money to try and shoot up the ladder, but they haven't done that, and it ends up hurting their bottom line even more. They're $3 million in debt at the moment, and the other corporate/hospitality facilities that they borrowed all that money for are barely breaking even. They've admitted themselves that had they had their time again they wouldn't have redone the hospitality areas, because it's put them in such a precarious situation.
