Played 90% of the year at Half Back with the odd stint in the Ruck or up Forward. The round 23 game mentioned was a Colts match not Reserves.
Thanks Spearhead, you're right, it was Colts. So confirms my suspicions that the midfield talk was just that. Did anyone catch any of his school footy? Where was he playing there?

Pick 12: Tim Taranto might still be on the board at this pick despite his excellent end to the season. A goalkicking midfielder who steps up at the big moments in games, the Sandringham Dragon enjoyed a consistent year and has an excellent endurance base (he has run a 15.9 beep test). His marking and size give him a point of difference as a midfielder and Taranto booted four goals in the NAB All Stars game on Grand Final eve. The Eagles would need to look closely if he's available at their first choice.

Around the mark: Tim English, Todd Marshall, Shai Bolton

Well based on this as well as where our next pick is I can't see SPP in Eagles colours next year.:(

We needed a pick in the low 20's for him.

Saying that if we land Taranto at 12 that would be very, very nice.

Without having looking at all the options as of yet, I wouldn't mind SPP at our 1st pick, seems to have plenty of potential based on the EP games that I saw him play on TV and didn't look too out of place in the league side, would be lucky if he slid to our 2nd pick. If Bolton were available at our 2nd it would be a great outcome, while Waterman will probably need to be taken with our 3rd, I can see him being bid on in the 40's or so.

Maybe taking SPP at 12 is the "aggressive trading / drafting" the club was talking about?

If we pick up a weak, outside runner or a 3rd tall back or forward I won't be happy.

so if waterman is bid on before 34, forcing us to use our second. Do we?
Prob not. Take all the draft hype stuff at this stage with a pinch of salt, it's realy doubtful that the combine stuff changed much for the established prospects, more guys like Logue who came out of nowhere. Waterman is a HFF / 3rd tall prospect, and he's not a super athelete or a KPF prospect, so he's likely a 40ish ranked player.

Also saw this on regarding the Saints

Pick 23: The Saints traded out of the first round and gained multiple second-round selections, plus extra first-round presence next year. Powerful midfielderSam Powell-Pepper could be an option at their first choice, No.23. The West Australian is a busy, tough, bullocking midfielder who barges through traffic and has a great athletic profile. Another who come into consideration if the Saints want to beef up their young tall stocks is 196cm defender Elliott Himmelberg. He has been off the radar after suffering a leg injury mid-season but has talent. He’s the younger brother of GWS pick-up Harrison, but is not tied to a northern academy.

Around the mark: Will Hayward, Alex Witherden, Brennan Cox

Waterman not listed in the top 30 but who knows how many of those will be snapped up by the expansion teams using later picks pushing our 2nd pick further down the order.

Looking at GWS picks after ours they have 37 (483 pnts), 39. (446) 45. (347) 52. (246) 57. (182) 58. (170)

Our 2nd at 34 is worth 542 points. Academy discount of 25% makes 406 points all they need to jump ahead of our pick 34, GWS has a total of 1,391 points to "buy" lower picks / players from their academy. A couple of 4th round picks provides another 300 points So that 1,691 is potentially 4 pick 34's.

Sydney also has two picks to use to jump ahead of our 2nd rounder on an academy kid.

So our 2nd could potentially drop a further 4-5 spots depending on who bids what on their academy products.

MacKenzie wouldn't have netted us a pick in the 20s, more likely 30's IMO. More upside in keeping him if Brown is leaving.

Masten would have been about the same.

Happy with our trading this year.

Hibberd netted pick 29. Also hasn't played footy for a year and isn't a former B&F winner

I'm pissed off we didn't get a top 10 pick somehow. Vozzo failed
According to this place Tom Lamb is easily worth a top 10 pick. Massive opportuinity missed there.

Could've bundled Lamb, Masten, MacKenzie, Colledge and Tunbridge for a top 5 pick.

Lewis netted pick 48, played all year and came second in the B&F.
Different scenario brah. Lewis would have been more expensive than that had Hawthorn not dicked him around to the point where he wanted out no matter what. Once he's openly said he'd like to join melbourne and they'd reneged once already, demons were always going to get him cheap town.

And i'm basing that off absolutely nothing because i'm not part of Hawthorns recruiting team and i have no idea what they tried to do. Before you ask.
