I mean when Brisbane won three in a row they got dealt two trips to Perth in the opening nine rounds.

As a general rule of thumb clubs don't go to Perth twice a year.
Thanks for the clarification. Essendon, North Melbourne, Sydney and the Giant were in WA twice in the 2015 home and away season. Would that count?

As a general rule of thumb clubs don't go to Perth twice a year.

There are 20 games in Perth against non-WA teams to share amongst 16 clubs. Ergo 4 teams travel to Perth twice every single year. In fact, for the 2004 season 6 teams (or 42% of non-WA teams) travelled to Perth twice. 3 of those teams made the trip twice in the space of 9 rounds.

Literally 1 week to go and barely a leak.
Infact I reckon we can only confirm 4 games next year:
Rich v Carlt opener
Easter Monday - Hawks v cats
Anzac Day
Queens birthday

This time last year, round 1 was already confirmed.
Would like to see Anzac round done this way:

Thursday 21st April

Fremantle v Adelaide (Domain)

Friday 22nd April

Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne (Etihad)

Saturday 23rd April

Melbourne v Hawthorn (MCG)
Brisbane v Sydney (Gabba)
Geelong v Carlton (Simonds)
Port Adelaide v Gold Coast (AO)

Sunday 24th April

Richmond v St. Kilda (MCG)
GWS v West Coast (Spotless)

Monday 25th April

Essendon v Collingwood (MCG)

Melbourne v Richmond will be a night game before ANZAC Day

Caro said on Adelaide radio today that Brisbane play two top 4 teams from this year in round 1 and 2 - with round 1 being in Perth. Tough start for the Lions if true.

****! Can nothing go right for our shitty club? Even the AFL are against us.

I'm expecting the toughest draw of all time for the reigning champs

So far the hardest draw recorded is Collingwood in 2012. There were no restrictions or guidelines in place at that point and the hardest possible group of 5 teams we could play twice amassed 80 wins between them. The teams we did draw twice had 79 wins between them.

This beats out Hawthorn's 2013 draw in which they faced teams who won 76 games the previous year out of a maximum of 79.

I think it was these two ridiculously hard draws one after another that led to the drawing up of the current regulations.

However in 2016 it is possible for Adelaide or North to get teams twice that won 80 games this year while for Hawthorn the maximum will be 78.

This is due to a quirk this year with both 5th and 6th losing their elimination finals, so it is now possible for Hawthorn, West Coast, Fremantle, North, Sydney or Adelaide to play the other 5 teams that finished in the Top 6 after the Home and Away season twice. This is because Richmond and the Bulldogs are now considered part of the 7th-12th group of teams as the AFL divide the competition into 3 groups of 6 based on the ladder after the finals.

No leaks yet? usually a week out there are 1 or 2 leaks.
Well Rumours on here that Caro says Lions play the Eagles round 1 and another top 4 team (highly likely it's North) in round 2.

The reason for less leaks is that trade period normally finishes 2 weeks before the draw comes out.

Finally some leaks - according to 7 news tonight:

- Tigers vs Blues season opener, no Good Friday game next season
- Tigers vs Pies round 2 Friday night
- GF rematch Round 2 @ MCG on Sunday afternoon
- Thursday night matches rounds 14-17 (Crows vs Roos @ AO round 14 and Swans vs Hawks @ SCG round 17 are two of them)
- Dogs and Crows will feature more prominently in prime time matches

Also according to Caro, Collingwood to play Sydney in Round 1 at, wait for it, everybody's favourite pile of crap, ANZ Stadium. :drunk:
