Is he a free agent? If so, I say go for it.
I read an article that said he was out of contract and the contract talks broke down back in August. The article I read basically said he was going home to live with his mummy because Shitney was too expensive and his brother had retired from AFL.

Who knows... Shitney might just delist him and let him find his own way home.

Guys, sorry for the intrusion. SOS created the monster that will be GWS. He did an awesome job in it's creation and I think he knows what it will take to kill the beast. The Answer is turnover! Some guys peak early and others grow at the level... SOS is looking for those that grow. You guys have the "luxury" of lower expectations for next year and so can find the next Dean Cox, Brian Harris or Paul Puopolo at later picks. We all know finishing 9th is death... just ask Richmond supporters.
Keep turning over players and Carlton will produce a champion team that will gel and snuff out GWS.

The Hawks are in rebuilding mode, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. The Pies, Tigers, Power, Crows, are all getting weaker. Swans and Cats are stable while the WB are getting stronger. All other teams are rebuilding.

One more year of playing people to see their growth and Carlton will be ready to rise.

SOS and Bolt's are doing everything right.

Hmm.

13 and a future 2nd would have been about par.

I'm a little surprised SOS didn't take that deal, if true.
It's just coming to light that Reid threw in Craig Kelly's son as make weight to try and get the deal over the line.

Whoops... no wonder he has been refusing to talk about their final offer.

Effectively traded Tuohy for Marchbank (Pick 6), Pickett (Pick 4), Smedts (Pick 15) and Palmer (pick 7). A good 27 year old half back for 4 former 1st round picks.

Get to go to the draft with picks 5, 25, 48, 63 and 66.

Very little damage to next year's draft order.

We've had a blinder. Injuries could tell another story but potentially this is huge.
You must be excited: you're using line breaks! :p

Can someone please clue me in to what happened?! An overview possibly?

I just woke up in the UK and missed all the action
SOS put the foot down, and our preferred trades went through pretty smoothly. Then, we held onto Gibbs because Adelaide never upped their offer.

Everyone high-fived everyone else and we all had cake. The end.

Excuse the intrusion, just wanting to thank you guys for acting like a professional organization with the pick swap.

Although on the face of it probably a small loss to you (although you might come out with some real guns, higher picks are always a lottery) but I guarantee you it wont be forgotten by Hawthorn for a long long time to come.

Clarko will make sure that it will be one of the most beneficial trades you have made.

Goodwill is a very valuable commodity when it comes to trading and you just bought a mountain of it.

He'd want to, he's still in huge defecit around here for his cowards punch on Ian Aitken in 1987, and putting 6 full backs on Brendan Fevola back in 2008.

Hah. Cheers mate

I'd rank this trade period as a B-

SOS loses a few points for missing out on Hrovat, and not telling Adelaide to piss off sooner.

I'm really excited to see Marchbank in action, along with Pick 5. I reckon Palmer may surprise a few too.

Angry little bastard wasn't he, never liked him as a player.

Fev deserved the ton (and a longer career), Clarkson just wanted to make sure that it didn't overshadow Buddys night (he's a spiteful little bugger as well).

I think that he still holds a grudge for having about half of the Carlton team cleaning his dial in the Battle of Britain in 87.

Still, if you are going to king hit someone and then try and run away, you are going to get slaughtered. What as going through the coach of the north side that he didn't pull Clarkson immediately.

I'm still unclear about the Hawthorn "favour" we provided...

Was it a Bolton, Clarko mate thing?
Was it SOS thinking "it can't hurt to have the Hawks owe us one"?
Was it us ensuring JOM didn't end up at Essendon?
Was it part of another deal that never actually got done in time?
The reason doesn't bother me either way, it's just very curious.
Why did we do this?

And given the circumstances, why didn't we just grab JOM with pick 5 and "help" ourselves?

Which is why I see what we got back from you guys today as all we'll get, Clarko ain't helping another club out. Nor should he feel obliged to.

We have to have faith SOS can find some little nuggets of gold with those late picks, and he has credits in the bank so no reason not to back him.

I've mentioned Hisham Kerbatieh as one I want, hopefully unearth another Marcus Adams as a mature recruit, too.

Congrats on getting JOM over the line & avoiding what we all dreaded, him going to * in the PSD. Good luck in 2017 :thumbsu:

Decent trade period for you guys. I'd be happy that you were able to get the players you wanted whilst keeping Gibbs and more importantly pick 5. Not convinced on either Smedts or Palmer but they might be decent stop gaps for a few seasons. If Marchbank and Pickett can get fit and firing it could turn out to be a great trade week.

Just stopping by to ask a quick question. Michael Barlow is still unsigned, any word if you guys are interested?

Haven't seen anything from the club but a few posters are keen on a short term deal.
