Apparently Jimmy Bartel was 'rested' this week as to stop him triggering a clause in his contract that would allow him to go on next year. Pretty disgraceful if true. Shit about to hit the fan over this. Good club Paddy has just joined. Suck balls.
The culture of that club has declined under Scott. They will step over anyone, including club greats, to get another premiership. Disgusting.

They are in trouble and it's only the fixture that is masking it at the moment. All their stats for transition play (disposals, marks) were way down against their season average vs Collingwood, which means they weren't running as hard. I'd back anyone of Sydney, Hawthorn, Bulldogs or Geelong to tear them apart, even at AO. Over the back goals ain't happening in finals when the intensity ramps up, and that's literally all they have.

What a flog

I dared question one of (many) Janus theories that the AFL don't help Port.

Ford Fiesta came down on me like a ton of bricks despite what he said in reply actually backed up my statement wih facts straight from the AFL.

Logic isn't their strong suit over there.
There is a "syndrome" that explains how the ignorant are ignorant of their ignorance ......Can't remember what it's called but pretty sure it's running rife on the Port Board

edit - found it - Dunning-Kruger effect

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect
  • fail to recognize their own lack of skill
  • fail to recognize the extent of their inadequacy
  • fail to accurately gauge skill in others
  • recognize and acknowledge their own lack of skill only after they are exposed to training for that skill
Seems to perfectly fit the majority of those flogs over there that put themselves up as "experts"

We aren't playing as fluidly as we were at the start of the season, but that's due to the tightening of our defense.

Early on we played much more attacking which brought on the Joe the Goose goals out the back.

Now that our defense is tighter we don't have the numbers or momentum to get so many of those over the back goals.

We're a stronger team for it. We have in recent weeks one of the best defenses in the comp. the tighter defense has put us in the premiership quadrant.

I.e. That's a pretty amateur bit of analysis from a sandy Port fan.

Surprised there is so much dismissal around about Port making the 8.
North are no good and their fall was always on the cards once the harder part of their draw arrived.

Port play Giants at AO, Brisbane at the Gabba, Sydney at SCG, Melbourne at AO, Adelaide, Gold Coast.

North play Collingwood, St Kilda, Bulldogs, Hawthorn, Sydney, GWS.

Can't see North winning one of those last 4. In current form not sure they can win one of the first 2 either.

Let's say they win the first 2. Port beat Brisbane, Melbourne and Gold Coast and either GWS or the Showdown (ok, or Sydney at SCG), Port are in.

The North vs Pies game this Friday night is huge. North lose that, almost lock Port in.

Don't want Port to be the one to take their place but it would be hilarious to see North go from 9-0 to missing finals. :drunk::drunk:
North will win at least 2-3 from here.

I reckon they are a monty to beat GWS at the Dome in the last round.

That would mean Port are going to have to win 4-5 more games. I don't think Port are the best team out of the 8.

Apparently "Janus" is latin for a broken clock that will forever predict the downfall of the crows, waiting for the day that he is right.

(j)Anus, who has been going on about injuries all year has deliberately overlooked that we were missing both Brown and Laird last night. Whenever Laird misses our run off half back seems to dry up.

They are just looking for any sign at the moment to give themselves some false hope.

?? How many of our goals last night came from "over the back"? One or two?

A couple were "over the back" purely because the likes of JJ/Eddie outbodied their opponent who fell over and left them the chance to get the easy goal as opposed to stopping for a set shot. They wouldn't know what an agile, quick key forward who can pull that off looks like though so its probably a novel concept to them.

Every single club these days tries to get goals out the back when the ball is in their defensive zone with skills and hard running forward. We just have the players capable of pulling it off consistently.

Also, we've shown plenty of times we have other ways of scoring. These Port posters mustn't be watching us very hard.

I think the showdown is going to be a make or break for both teams. Our top 4 chances and their top 8 chances will be on the line in that game.

We have Jenkins who get goals out the back in the goal square, Tex bombing them from 60 and Eddie from the pocket. All bases covered!

Thinking clubs will suddenly stop over the top goals in finals is ridiculous and idiotic.

Collingwood consistently played with one loose defender deep in defence last night. We didn't bother combatting this at all, and in fact played our forwards further up the ground to combat our outside guys and half backs (Smith, Seedsman, Henderson, Atkins, etc.) having to play actual defense

I more inclined to think that they managed when he plays his 300th game. Like perhaps home game etc...

Critisizing the "over the top" goals also ignores the amount of hard running these blokes do once the ball is turned over in our back half. It's not like they sit in the goal square waiting for the ball, but will go on a 80 metre+ sprint to get open. Most of those goals are all about the work rate of the forwards and the quick ball movement from the backs.

The same Hanus who said Voss was deliberately sabotaging Port as payback for 2014 and they should trade Robbie Gray.

If the kangas don't make the 8 should Scott get the sack?

I don't think so. Their on field strategies are fine, it's their list that sucks. Filled with guys that are too old and random plodders, they have very little good youth, and they have no star power at all

Whenever Port are missing one players it's the equivalent of missing half the team in their eyes so not sure how us missing two of our best back men can't be a factor. And oh btw we still beat the Pies by 29 points even though they smashed GWS last week.
