You're the lastt person the club should listen to. After all you wanted to delist/trade tarrant in favour of recruiting the forward richmond recruited (now delisted).

Some of those players are fanciful. We'd need a dogs-boyd like trade to pry them away.

Happy to admit I got that wrong. At least 50% of the posters here wanted him traded as well.

Let see some players your interested in trading for remembering even contracted players are gettable.

Not a fringe player. Starting midfielder for the best team in the competition. Stays at Sydney or goes to Hawthorn.

Not a fringe player. Top 5 in a team when he's not being weirdly disciplined by a weird coach. Seriously am I the only one who thinks Bevo is an extraordinarily weird unit?

Would love him but I think he's going to the Saints. Their 2nd rounder is better than ours.

5 year contract.

Yeah, would love him, but contracted and would cost an arm and a leg.

Worth a look.

Yes.

Yes. But Carlton.

Unobtainable. Doesn't fit what we're after. Slower than Swallow and will be out of the game in 5 years with CTE anyway.

Somewhat average. Can't crack a Melbourne team. Jayden Hunt has gone past him.

If Swallow, O'Meara and Prestia are leaving then the GC aren't going to let a fourth bright talent go.

Would take at the right price.

Nah.

Nah. Actually yeah. But only just.

Literally just signed a 3 year contract. Don't rate him anyway. Torches the footy.

We have a lot in front of him.

Because what we need is more tackling machines that are slower than a wet week.

Would rather his Pokemon evolution, Zac Tuohy. Also he just did his knee.

Meh.

Contracted until 2018.

Would be interested at the right price. Has speed and kicks goals.

Meh. In and under undersized midfielder. Not ideal.

I said most players are fringe players didnt say all. You do know even contracted players are gettable too?

Would love to see 23 players that you think we should either trade or sign for?

Yes mate I do know contracted players are gettable. You tend to pay way too for them though. Hence my hesitation.

23 is way too wide a net. That's some scattergun shit. I think we'd serve ourselves well to get N. Brown (second key defender to allow Thompson to play as the third tall he has so richly deserved to be for his entire career), D. Swallow (outside class with inside ability, providing us with a point of difference to our one-paced midfield), and see what else falls out of the rest of the competition as trade period and the leadup to it play out.

We're more than a month out from the start of all of this. Some patience is probably required.

I suggested last year that we needed to recruit or fast track another key defender to allow Thompson to be the versatile 3rd tall that could also play on a small. After all the lesser defender he plays on would allow him to be a bit more of an attacking player which he has been good at in the past. So I agree with the recruitment of a key defender. Here in lies the problem though.

The two you suggest are seriously injury prone not to mention Swallow will cost a first round pick and probably a player as well, then you have money on top of that. Personally I'd like to let go of both Swallows. Andrew is limited as a mid. He doesnt kick goals, his disposal is horrible and his leadership is not what we need.

Like Flawed Genius i would make a play for nathan brown. I think thompson plays his best football when he's allowed to drift of his man (basically the hansen role, but with the ability to play one on one). EWV and hibberd aren't ready yet (largely due to persistant injuries) and should be competing with wright, and jmac for the time being.
Cheap, experienced, and fills a need. In a perfect world I'd want steven may, but i think key defenders are relatively easy to find so you don't need to waste big money recruiting (eagles, bulldogs and a few others picked up reserves and unearthed some gems).

-D.Swallow for the gamble.
-Steele because i think he'll be a really good player and it's the time to get him cheap. (Unfortunately it looks like he's going to the aints).

Now because we apparently have a big war chest available I'd make a play for kelly. I know he'd cost a lot but he fills a need and there's that family connection we could play on (he should be will us anyway). Going to be a star and we need to spend the money somewhere. Cheaper option - lachie weller (would please TennisPlayerAndy ). He only has one year left on his contract and freo are stuffed. Could strike now and see if we could tempt him to come over.

Lastly, if mayne comes i might burn down arden street.

Tldr:
In: steele, brown, swallow, lennon, kelly or weller

F*** off: mayne

EDIT: and lennon...i think there's a gem of a player in there if our coaches can get him to extract a digit.

Does this hooha usually start so early? There is a limited amount teams in the finals can do about trades without unsettling their existing list - it feels like we are grasping for ins that will make us feel good about our outs, much earlier than is realistic.

So most likely Mayne and Brown (both 27 years old and list cloggers) coming to north?

Wtf is going on here...
Theyre areas that needs addressing.........Brown one year before Thommo is shown the door/ and the introduction process of Neilson and VW.
Mayne to address the possibility of Waite not available in his last year.

John Butcher been cut from Port, worth a look?

I realize we are the Shinboners and all....but
We can only afford to have one "Butcher of Arden St" at a time.

Liam Anthony then
Sam Gibson; unless we delist, we cannot have
John Butcher.....oh wait...am I thinking of Ken Butcher?...or are they both butchers?

I think it's only starting on this board because of the stupid week off.

Quick add him to the list.
