Name and shame please :)
Hawthorn FA/Trading Duds since 2011:

Jarrad Boumann (2011 Trade - GWS - 2 games)
Jonathon Simpkin (2012 FA - Geelong - 33 games in three years)
Matt Spangher (2012 Trade - Sydney - 24 games in four years)
Jonathon O'Rourke (2014 Trade - GWS - 9 games in two years)
Jack Fitzpatrick (2015 Trade - Melbourne - 1 game)

For comparisons sake, the good ones:
Jack Gunston (2011 Trade)
Brian Lake (2012 Trade)
Ben McEvoy (2013 Trade)
James Frawley (2014 FA)

Note this doesn't include anyone they picked up in a draft, anyone they drafted using a pick they traded in, or any assessment of the cost of these trades.

I heard that from a guy in a caravan park who knows the neighbor of a guy who once went to a school which was in a suburb not far from over hearing a conversation between a recently retired champs father and some other campaigner.

The uncle of my third best friend sometimes says things like that.

Straight swap Daw for Lennon?

Now i absolutely do not want daw to go anywhere and I'd be livid if we let him go/he wanted to leave.

But...worst case scenario we get a promising youngster and richmond get a foward/ruck (an area they are struggling with as hampson/maric are average and richmond need another forward to compliment the sook (Griffiths is injured alot and they've lost mcbean and Mckenzie this year)

EDIT: don't shoot me down naturally north you know i love daw and would trade goldy for the right price

To be fair, before Barlow hurt his shoulder, he was doing a pretty good job of tagging AND racking up posessions, considering Ross Lyon isn't really an advocate of tagging anyway, as far as Freo FA's go, Barlow >>>>>>>>>Mayne

Barlow isn't an FA.

No freaking way!!! We have put years of hard work and development into Maj... Lennon couldn't break into the shitfull Tiges. No thanks.

Must not be a part of Rossy's rebuild plans and wants to come home

No doubt. I reckon they'd take a third or even fourth rounder for him meaning potentially a straight swap for Black would be feasible.

Not that I think he's what we need or want mind.

Even I wouldn't do that. Not without them throwing in a fourth rounder anyway.

My reduced faith in our football department means I want proven players. Instant karma, and Lennon ain't it! Potential doesn't cut it anymore. :( Not that Daw has shown he's proven; it's just that I need to imagine a lot more with Lennon.

Help! It's so hard watching the wheels of the premiership clock turn. Nobody told me after Rd 9 we'd be this bad.

Can we just get rid of Swallow? That's my number 9 dream.

Stop this nonsense. The only players the club should be looking at are proven young talented players that arent injury prone.

i.e-
Tom Mitchell
Jake Stringer
Jack Steele
Pearce Hanly
Jack Grimes
Josh Kelly
Paul Ahern( Not proven yet but mark my words this kid can play)
Will Hoskin-Elliot
Caleb Marchbank
Angus Brayshaw
Jay Kennedy-Harris
Darcy Mcpherson(Coming off knee but like what I saw this year)
Brandon Matera
Corey Gregson
Alex Pearce
Anthony Mcdonald-Tipungwuti
Tom Langdon
Rupert Wills(Absolute tackle machine)
Ciaran Byrne
Cam Ellis- Yolman
Jake Kelly
Connor Menadue
Nathan Hrovat

As you can see almost all of these players are fringe players but all are extremely talented.

Why the club or fans are suggesting to go for injury prone stars is a very dangerous game, especially when you pay big money. The club should be looking for value for money young players and see if they can snag 1 or 2 stars in the process.

You're bangin on about not getting injury prone players, yet half the players on your list are injury prone.

I suggested last year that we needed to recruit or fast track another key defender to allow Thompson to be the versatile 3rd tall that could also play on a small. After all the lesser defender he plays on would allow him to be a bit more of an attacking player which he has been good at in the past. So I agree with the recruitment of a key defender. Here in lies the problem though.

Have heard Dan Nielson has been given the tap on the shoulder and told " We've done the right thing by you, now its time for you to step up"

Makes me question the Brown thing.

If the club is true to their word on a RESET that is what should be happening. Not recruiting 27-28 year olds like Mayne and Brown, although I am not against the Brown idea. Mayne can get as far away as possible

Worst case scenario philly. I don't want him to go. I mean if he said he's not happy with how he's been treated this season and wants more opportunities at another club.

Heaven forbid, but i think it'd make the best of a bad situation.

The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS today confirmed that Caleb Marchbank has requested a trade at the end of the season.

The GIANTS will now endeavour to complete a trade that is beneficial to the club. The club wishes Caleb all the best for the future.

Probably Carlton. Marchbank is a BFNAAK though so I guess it'd be good to see us put in a big go at him.

Lennon has been in the system for 3 years and has has shown absolutely nothing.

YOUNG defender Caleb Marchbank has officially requested a trade away from the GWS Giants at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has played only seven games for the finals-bound club after being selected with Pick 6 in the 2014 national draft.

As reported by foxfooty.com.au in June, a host of Victorian sides — including Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and St Kilda — are interested in acquiring the highly rated 193cm defender.

“We will now endeavour to complete a trade that is beneficial to the club,” the Giants said in a statement released on Thursday.

Marchbank played the first two games of this season, before his campaign was interrupted by a series of ankle and shoulder injuries.

Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers, the teenager has averaged 19 disposals and seven marks per game from 17 NEAFL matches since arriving at the Giants.

Marchbank is one of a number of talented young Giants coming out of contract at the end of this season, with midfielder Jack Steele and forward James Stewart yet to decide their future.

Stewart is extremely promising. Would be a good get.

Hawthorn FA/Trading Duds since 2011:

Jonathon Simpkin (2012 FA - Geelong - 33 games in three years)
Matt Spangher (2012 Trade - Sydney - 24 games in four years)
Jack Fitzpatrick (2015 Trade - Melbourne - 1 game)
First 2 have been important in 2xGFs
Last one got the Hawks the double chance for this years finals and goes in as No 2 Ruck

It seems like the reset decision came out of the club meeting a week ago and seems a sudden and dramatic shift in strategy. So I wouldn't be surprised if all the chatter about North's interest in Cloke, Mayne, Barlow and co. was on the back of earlier chats with player managers and the speculation about North's trade/FA interests are already well out of date.

I'm also of the belief that the club wouldn't have given the 4 musketeers their marching orders if they didn't believe our kids were up to it. The decision suggests more about giving the opportunities to the kids rather than making room for trades.

The bigger questions for me are regarding the futures of Wells, Waite, Daw, Hansen, and Black and whether any of our underperforming 100+ gamers (Ats, Thommo, etc) will find themselves on the trade table. I suspect there will be much more action at the Exit door than the Entrance door in the coming month. A club reset, a good bunch of untested kids, a quality draft, a limited FA list, North's lack of trade currency, and a mass club-driven exodus suggests the focus will be on getting draft picks rather than trading in players or grabbing free agents. The only logical trade/FA strategy should be for a young top liner or to fill a serious gap (i.e. Brown to replace Spud and Tippett as KPD).
