Everyone needs to chill out in regards to trading 6. We'll butcher it anyway, so who cares. Plus, pick 6 is cursed and we already have 2 on our list (Yarran, Conca)
Tend to agree it will another one of those why didn't they take player X instead of player Y situations

I just don't think it is worth getting too upset about not having a pick in the top 10 if we retain at least two in the 20s.

Look at it this way

In the 2009 draft

If we had pick one we would have taken Scully... is Scully worth pick 1? **** no.

After Martin the next best was Cunnington at pick 5 (good player but no world beater), the next decent player was Talia at 14 followed by Fyfe at 20.

So in the top 20 there were 5 players worth grabbing and probably Fyfe, Martin and Talia were the only 3 worthy of top 10 picks.

In the next 10 picks went Carlisle, Duncan and Gunston.

Now look at 2008 draft

Much better players in this draft yet 2 of the 3 best midfielders went at 29 Beams and 30 Hannebery. The other was Ziebell at pick 9. There were good KPP's in this draft but that is more like next years draft than this years draft. Still plenty of plodders popped up in the top 20.

If we take 3 midfielders before pick 30 we will land at least one player worthy of a top 10 pick.

Yep. Too many people having faith we will use 6 to land an absolute gun. When in reality we probably end up with another Conca lol

Might as well shut the doors if we use 6 for Prestia, he'll play **** all for us as he's injury prone. He can sit alongside Yarran and Hampson in the hall of fame trade **** ups. Between Richarson, Hartley and FJ it will take a decade to undo their damage.
Don't be surprised if prestia was only injury prone due to the way gold coast ran their program, by the looks of it they had their players training too hard too soon hence why they have had a massive injury list for consecutive years

one thing to keep in mind when talking about us trading pick 6, is the likelihood that we would pick a better player with that pick. given that we have screwed every high pick since martin other than lids, martin and maybe cotchin, we will probably just take some shithead with pick 6 anyway.

who would you rather, conca or prestia??? (fyi we took conca at 6 over prestia at 9 in their draft to begin with)

People need to remember we're talking about a soon to be 30 year old Deledio, whose body is slowly breaking down, being traded not a soon to be 25-26 in the prime of his career Deledio. Getting someone like Caddy who is about to enter the best years of his career and has shown that he can be a very good player when played in the right role. Have a look at some photos of Caddy he is built like a tank, has a bit of campaigner about him and alongside the likes of Cotchin Martin & Prestia it would give us an impressive midfield quartet to build around and it means that instead of asking a few of our smaller skinnier midfielders to play inside we can use them in better roles as hard running outside link up mids who can get on their bikes and move the ball quickly into our F50.

Maybe they want to get rid of it cos they don't trust FJ

Hardly any club has yet, it's been a very quiet start...

I think it's all happening , there is hardly any movement anyway in the first week , but with all the names getting thrown up or wanting out I think this will be a full on trade period ! & this is coming from someone who has as much patience as a snake with shoulders

100% agree with you and wish I could like this post more than once.
Lids wants to leave.
If we can get Caddy it would be a good result.
Lids is a better player, yes.
Caddy fills a need that we have been desperately lacking since the days of Jackson and Tuck.
Cotchin, Martin, Prestia, Caddy and Vlastuin in the guts from the first bounce next year.
I'm a fan.

STAR forward Jack Riewoldt has rejected overtures from Essendon coach John Worsfold and pledged his loyalty to Richmond.

The Bombers believed Riewoldt, 27, was gettable, but after a series of meetings between Riewoldt and Tigers officials in the past week, including one with coach Damien Hardwick, Riewoldt has come to accept he was not put up for trade.

A meeting between Hardwick and Riewoldt in the past 36 hours is understood to have further confirmed to Riewoldt he was not only required, but wanted by the Tigers, ending a challenging period for the star forward.

With the Tigers ruthlessly assessing their list, Riewoldt was understood to be assessing his future.

He spoke to long-time friend Brendon Goddard at the weekend about various aspects of Goddard’s move from St Kilda to Essendon at the end of the 2012 season.

Bombers coach Worsfold contacted Riewoldt after the forward’s discussion with Goddard.

There was no discussion about money or potential trade options, but about where Riewoldt believed his future was heading.

Riewoldt told Worsfold he wanted to remain a Tiger.

The meeting with Hardwick saw the coach give the two-time Coleman medallist an unqualified commitment to keeping him at Punt Rd.

It’s understood Riewoldt had been disconcerted by the possible trade of good mate Brett Deledio to Geelong, but that won’t affect his decision to stay.

What do you classify as a "high pick"? The last top 10 pick we had was 2012 when we took Vlausy.

We need to go all in. **** trading Deledio, how about we give him a chance to win a flag with his bros!

Pick 6 + Pick 26 for Hartlett + Pick 9
Pick 9 for Prestia + Pick 25
Next years first + Pick 25 for Mitchell + Nankervis + Pick 17
Pick 17 to GWS for Steele + Pick 36
