Giving up pick 6 for Prestia tells me that we're desperate to remain semi-relevant now, maybe get a few top 8 finishes, rather than aiming for real success in the future. We NEED that pick 6 and we need to use it wisely.

I feel like we're sticking with the ol' Dan Richardson mentality by trading it.

Everyone has been telling me that Balme is the saviour, but if he signs off on us using pick 6 without plans of trading back into the top 5 then what good is he compared to what we have previously been dealing with.

Exactly. It's the best pick we've seen in years and I'll back the boys to climb back up that ladder a little bit meaning our future first rounders won't be as good as pick 6. If pick 6 isn't part of some super secret mega trade then we need to take it to the draft and get some star youth into our club. Yes I'm aware of our history with conca but you'd hope we learned from that mistake and won't make it again.

Perfect time of year to organise your ignore list this thread makes it very easy for a sneaky little tidy up
The problem is if I ignore everyone overreacting for no bloody reason I won't have anyone to talk to next season. :( Might make the Richmond board a happier place for me though.

We should have gone the full rebuild

Yeah true... But no use getting all riled up over an article from Jake Niall, I mean have you see what the guy looks like?

Just the fact he used the words "almost certain" drove me bananas.

I just don't think it is worth getting too upset about not having a pick in the top 10 if we retain at least two in the 20s.

Look at it this way

In the 2009 draft

If we had pick one we would have taken Scully... is Scully worth pick 1? **** no.

After Martin the next best was Cunnington at pick 5 (good player but no world beater), the next decent player was Talia at 14 followed by Fyfe at 20.

So in the top 20 there were 5 players worth grabbing and probably Fyfe, Martin and Talia were the only 3 worthy of top 10 picks.

In the next 10 picks went Carlisle, Duncan and Gunston.

Now look at 2008 draft

Much better players in this draft yet 2 of the 3 best midfielders went at 29 Beams and 30 Hannebery. The other was Ziebell at pick 9. There were good KPP's in this draft but that is more like next years draft than this years draft. Still plenty of plodders popped up in the top 20.

If we take 3 midfielders before pick 30 we will land at least one player worthy of a top 10 pick.

Year after year nothing happens until the last few days of the trade period. You would think we would learn but no.

It's been two days...

Everyone needs to chill out in regards to trading 6. We'll butcher it anyway, so who cares. Plus, pick 6 is cursed and we already have 2 on our list (Yarran, Conca)

Maybe they want to get rid of it cos they don't trust FJ

Hardly any club has yet, it's been a very quiet start...
