I don't think Collins is any good.
But you have a serial killer type obbsesive hate for anyone whos ever pulled on a purple jumper.
Do you like fyfe or neale?
if its any help i dont rate Collins either and I really dont have any strong feelings for or against freo in particular...
if we were going to chuck a lifeline to a WAFL player i reckon there would be a fair few i would give a crack before Collins

Clayton Oliver was a highlight reel on legs. He looked ridiculous, like Dangerfield playing against the under 9s. Titch was a gun in every comp he played and Sydney only got him because they manipulated the draft. His NEAFL form was legendary and was regularly getting 50 possessions a game. Selwood I can't remember. Anyway, I just don't think he has many attributes that will help him make it at AFL level and he's not what we need. He's a Trout special though so I'm resigned to it. He's a good bloke, Captain blah blah blah. I'd rather a Toby Greene flog who dominates but that's just me.

"Highlights" are subjective though aren't they? What were Oliver's highlights? Obviously he is a gun & was a very high draft pick, but he is not quick, not a good kick, not a high mark, not what I would call x-factor. But he is still a gun. Highlights are overrated is my point.

I hope we draft Murphy just to upset all the 3 minute highlights reel experts who think they know more than the actual experts and cant move their egos to one side.
Hahaha gold.

What about when we stuff it right up and call out "Bob Murphy" by mistake?

I know I'm stating the obvious but we are beholden to Freo/Coillingwood at picks 5 and 6. Does Naughton get a look-in by either club here? What about Brander? North will either go Cerra or Stephenson from all accounts. If Freo or Collingwood do pick Naughton and Coffield then Brayshaw likely slides to us which is a good get at 7. Then at 8 it could be anyone from Bonar, Murphy or even Clark.

Unfortunately we are getting teased looking at those scenarios where LDU/Dow and to a lesser extent Cerra slides to us. I suppose it could happen but unlikely....

11 days to go. Just hope the cards fall our way and we can get at least Coffield/Cerra/Brayshaw with pick 7. That will be a good result. Then sit back and watch who is right and see which player we end up at 8 with. Surely it can't be anyone outside of Murphy, Bonar, Clark, Stephenson or even Higgins (who I dont want)?

We've been linked to Brayshaw, Coffield, Murphy and Stephenson from all accounts.

Oh well - at least it's given us something to talk and debate about, (and several pre melts with extra cheese)!!!

interesting tid bits in here:
A shake-up of the Suns' recruiting and list management department had been floated after the departure of coach Rodney Eade.

The Suns' foundation list manager Scott Clayton had been expected to lead the club to next Friday's draft – but his future appears bleak.

It is unclear exactly who will be sitting at the tables for both of the AFL's expansion clubs on draft night.

Clayton – a veteran list manager who's worked at the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs before his Suns stint – made headlines last week with comments about the so-called 'go-home' factor that’s hampered Gold Coast since its inception.

"Every year, we at Gold Coast speak to would-be draftees and they say to us: 'You can draft me but I'll be coming back (to their home state) after two years'." Clayton told ESPN.

"It's like bloody Play School, it's so child-like that these young men who want to be part of a national competition can dictate the state they play in."

"I draw the analogy of an actor who says: 'If I'm going to star in movies, I'm going to live in Hollywood - not Pittsburgh'."

Scott clayton was a very good list manager, the Suns have had a bad run with injuries and the culture has killed him.

When it comes to drafting 18 year olds and moving them interstate when they have clearly stated their intention then bad luck.

This isn't the NFL, MLB or the NBA the draft rules and the ages of the players are completely different.

Non football states will always have this problem which has been exacerbated by the introduction of the Suns and GWS.

You know what? You have to draft them anyway. Then you employ someone to keep an eye on them and make sure they feel like they belong. Its Gold Coast FFS!!!
FWIW , i think GWS went in with a bigger issue, and probably because they knew it was the case, they created a better bonded team.

Murphy and naughton are both very down on my list but I'd be happy to draft them just to see how hard gringo melts.

That man is pre-melting harder than a sunny boy left out for days.

I know it's only a highlights package but I really like the look of him, I will be happy enough if we draft him.

People are allowed to have their own opinions. Not like the club has been a beacon of success throughout its history.
True. And my opinion is I hope we draft Murphy so I can laugh at all the amateur internet experts who think they know more than the experts after watching 3 minutes of highlights. My opinion of course.

To your second point. Our recruiting had been well above average during this rebuild.

There's nothing wrong with a good melt, it's every supporters right to melt now and again.

I have just changed my avatar to golden Gordon the King of melts just in case we have a shocker, st kilda pick 7 B Hartung.
Pick 8 - Mitch Hallahan

Yet Murphys highlights package is one of the best out there

Hey, I thought you were my friend....another one off the christmas list.

I'm not going to go on Brayshaw bashing, I don't rate what he does with the ball once he wins it but that's just me. He's just not the type we need. Look at the list and we don't have need for another inside leaning mid. Seb Ross has developed an outside game and I guess that's the option but we really need outside run and distribution. Hunter Clark to me fits that model much more. Having played on a flank shows he can run and spread when required but wins his own ball as well. He did a few long runs in games that make you imagine he'd make it very easily on a wing or flank and run riot.

Outside players are basically the mids we need not more inside ball winners. We should back what we have in development.
This is pretty much how I see Clark, which is bad news for you Gringo as I’m as dumb as s stump.
I recon he will play like a bigger and better marking sincs. Can run, has good foot skills, good in traffic, can win his own ball. Sounds like Sinclair to me

Well I'll one up you, I hope we fold and cease to exist just to see your face. Oh the funny looks it will bring. I hope someone steals my wifes car tonight so she wakes up and totally freaks out. Funny as ****. Even better if the house burnt down, she would totally ****ing blow her stack.
