yeah, Im rapt to get Weller in cos he looks like he will be a gun, and I would only really rather LDU, Rayner and maybe Dow over him in this draft, but don't let the door hit you on the way out Clayton. F**k me what a joke that was. And his explanation for it with 4x10 top 10 picks last year and 2x next year is BS. We could have had 4 last year, 1 this year, 1 next year and Weller!!

The only good that came from today was the amount of future picks we have sitting their for whoever comes in to replace Clayton. But I don't understand why we can go from having pick 2, like 5 x 2nd rounders and a 3rd rounder to 19 and 3 x 3rd rounders. This whole 'next year will be a superdraft' thing better pay-off. Plus we did a fairly horrible job of clearing out the deadwood.

But welcome Weller. I can't wait to see him in the guts.
Can't like this enough.

Richmond and the Bulldogs were the last two teams to win the flag. There is at least one upset every singe weekend in football, surprises happen all the time. And yet for some reason people have complete confidence in their ability to forecast the future in who wins trades.

It's obviously not great, but cancelling the membership? Spare me.

Clayton was taking pick 2 to the draft
Adamant
No ifs or buts
But suddenly today he's happy with our 4 from last year and 2 next year?
Spare ME

On a positive note, at least we can crack open that '2018 Best 22' thread considering we only have 1 pick + a known commodity in Crossley to bring in basically.

Also, please for the love of god Clayton, best inside mid available at 19, or maybe Balta if he slides there. But watch Crossley can bid on at 18 now :drunk:

Yes sir. Cancelling a membership over this seems overboard. Will those that cancel return if he turns into a superstar and we head up the ladder in the near future?

Guys stop overthinking. The Suns got their man, of course we wanted to keep pick 2, but how do we know if we would've got LDU. Have two picks in a superdraft, and have pick 19. Weller will be a 10+ year player for the Suns, 200 game player. That pick 2 is an unknown, could be a bad player, or maybe he leaves in a couple years due to homesickness. Weller will give his all for the club and has no go home factor. As Clayton said 4 top 10 picks last year and we have stacked up for next years 'super draft'
Another positive for Weller is when we fold because of our completely useless management and get moved to Tasmania he will be at his original home

I have spent the last hour writing a letter to Mark Evans, I have had to re-write it a couple of times to remove some of the anger. I have asked for an explanation as to why I should renew my membership after nine years of one crap decision after another. I encourage all of you to do the same.

Worpel every day of the week..

If you are delisted as a contracted player, then the club is still responsible for your contract UNLESS you are drafted by another club.

We delisted Schade last year even though he was under contract. That let us open up 5 list spots for our 5 draftees. Schade was rookied by Collingwood. The Pies were on the hook for a rookie contract plus match payments, we were on the hook for the rest of his deal.
We have delisted Stanley and a couple of others in the past, also while under contract. We then rookie drafted them. This allowed us to get an extra player on the main list while still paying them the full whack on their contract.

So if we pick up A. Swallow in the psd, we will be responsible for his existing contract. I suspect there is a deal in place that North will pay some of his salary, but we will pay most of it.

Makes sense. Suspect this was the plan if we (a) had a list spot for him and (b) had no time to get a deal done.
With our current lack of picks, good chance there is a list spot for him. If there is, then North will delist and we will draft.

mate... now you know i love you but i want to talk you down off the cliff.
i don't reckon you can tell me why LDU is better than Weller, right? cuz if you can't... trust that it's the right thing to do.

the draft (LDU) is literally a lottery. Weller is a 10 year player. it's worth it.

Respect your opinion DWD

I'm not happy about losing pick 2. I feel really dirty.

But what's done is done.
I take confidence knowing who is walking in to the club and that we have the makings to be competitive enough to get lynch resigned.
Next year's draft will be a killer and the clean out should be completed.
Still trust Clayton he clearly was forced to make that trade under duress of the higher ups.

Move on and have hope with a more experienced list next year.

Sooo....... how 'bout that draft, eh?

Pick 2.
Pick 19. - Worpel/Bailey/etc.
Pick 41. - Crossley (pts - pick 50, 54, if needed)
Pick 94 - Spencer upgrade

Honestly, not the worst draft. Depends how many list spots we end up with available. Surely just the 3 for draft as there's not much their in the 50s.

I’ve emailed the club asking for Evans and Clayton to resign
Hope other members do the same

I’ll be renewing my membership but not with the joy that I normally do it with.

I just wonder about constantly having Melbourne people on the payroll and not Locals.

If Evans and Clayton loved the Gold Coast Like I do would they have caved in???

You need passion as well as smarts in this game.

Employ locals-sacrifice smarts for all out passion.

Deadbeats from AFL House-thumbs down
