Interesting, you have to fill 95% of the cap so i'm guessing most of that money is going to Lynch, May and Swallow

Can't front load Lynch. Already in his final year.
Add in Weller. Probably Martin and Sam Day as well.

Would be easy enough to front load contracts. The hard part is getting new players to take our cash.

they will save as much as they can for Lynch but the AFL will help too

Smartest thing to do is delist who hasn't fired for us and get some mature cheapies in

Lynch would want to play a lot better than what we got last year to justify the contract talk that people are speculating about

On last years form I’d be prepared to take the 2 First Rounders speculated about if his 2018 form is similar to the 2017 form

Cam Ellis Yolman delisted by Crows may re rookie him
Ruggles from Geelong delisted too

CEY was pretty popular on here last year as I remember

Never known us to take this long to announce our final delistings.

Club definitely up to something.

Has to be done by tomorrow though cause players contracts run out 31st Oct.

Maybe we will see a turn over of another 4-5 senior listed players?
So much bad press about us lately they are probably delaying as long as They can

You do realise Weller said he would come at the end of next season if freo didn’t come to the trade table? So we where always going to get Weller , instead our impatience has cost us pick 2 who could be anything , the west coast pick is separate to this deal as we would of got that trade done anyway . No one in there right mind can say we had a good trade period , Weller isn’t going to be the difference next year , he’s a 21yo kid for god sakes , going forward he is going to help us big time , but so could of LDU , we gambled a couple years back and traded the pick 4 thinking we get Clayton Oliver at pick 8 , that backfired big time , and we have made a mess here , how big a mess only time will tell.

Two things.

First, you're letting emotion get in the way of rational thinking. The Suns didn't need another crapshoot high draft pick. You name me some champions who came at pick #2 and I'll show you ice as many disappointing picks who either washed out or flamed out. Weller is a known quantity with 3 years experience who is ready to play now. He's also a Suns Talent Academy product and that is golden for the team's future. He'll be captain one day and it will be because of his commitment to the team and the city.

Second, you are second guessing paid professionals who have watched thousands of hours of tape. Sure, they get it wrong a lot of the time, but you're just a spud on the sidelines. You can get angry and spew pages of vitriol about how bad the Suns recruiters are, but you're never prepared to be wrong and admit it. This forum is an echo chamber sometimes and everyone who maintains that the trade period was a bust just proves that they are allowing emotion to cloud their judgement. Agree or not, the Suns recruitment has actually been inspired at times and the list is very, very talented. Results came in the false dawn of 2014 with Ablett at the peak of his powers, but the team has since proven it can't play sustained high quality footy without him. Replacing his experience and brilliance won't happen with just Weller, but he's a damn sight better than a raw 18 year who may or may not excel at the very top level.

I respect your opinion and all those who are spooked by the ballsy moves made during the trade. I disagree that Weller would have been there for the taking in a year and clearly the Suns management do too.

I'm so glad Nicholls got chosen over Currie, even though I think the latter is probably a better technical ruckman. Suspect that his injuries might have made the difference. With Crossley coming in, the ruck stocks will be ok.

Shaw and McKenzie will find homes fairly soon. Just a pity we couldn't get any offers during the Trade period. I'm bummed about Mac Willis because you can't find ticker like that at a draft combine, so hopefully he gets re-rookied.

I’d say because Nicholls was contracted..

One Thing
To say about of all the members of this forum that SunsBhoy allows emotion to cloud his thinking is about as wrong as it gets.
If anyone in here knows their stuff it’s SunsBhoy and Thurls.

If I just added up correctly we now have 6 available senior list spots for DFA + draft + MacPherson upgrade.

Possibly:
3 x draft
2 x DFA
1 x MacPherson

+ lots of rookies

By my count, there are 36 players now on the Suns list. Room for 4 on the Senior list and 7 rookies. Could be wrong.
