The clear standout number 1 pick with star written all over him before injury, he's just raw at the moment so he looks awkward but he could be anything, don't believe the unhype
I don’t agree with the clear standout number one pick. Sure he was in the mix but was there with a couple of others. I understand he had a knee injury but when he came back for a expected to see a little more for this guy who was meant to be rated top 3. Every time I watched him I thought he was pretty ‘meh’. By the looks of it now he doesn’t even look like going top 10.

Brander doesn’t look a strong kick. They fade and curl. That’s a worry for me as someone having a set shot. I don’t think he’s worth pick 6.
I like Stephenson. He’s a good mover but also unsure about his kicks.
Balta looks a great kick. High and direct but not sure about the way he moves.
No real stand outs for me.

That doesn't overly worry me about Brander. He is still a kid and he'll develop much more strength in his legs. With full time professional coaching, the strength of his kicking should improve. His technique doesn't look too bad. I'd be more concerned if he had a shocking technique.

Personally, I think we'll take Brander. There just aren't really any standouts, so I think we can go with needs based selection. If we had another pick sub-30, I'd probably be a bit more keen on Coffield as we could take a key defender in the 20's. But leaving it until 38 is a risk.

We should probably take Collins as a DFA, and Brander at pick 6. At least that adds depth to our KPP stocks.

Also the draft isn’t the place for us to bolster our KPP stocks this year. Brander is unlikely to be best 22 next year; I’d rather have Collins for depth who costs nothing and allows us to take best available at 6.

Then trade into the top few picks next year and grab one of the King boys or Lukosius. Then pick up Lynch as FA. That sorts out our KPP stocks for h foreseeable future and gives us a good player this year At 6

Been a fan of Stephenson since last years TAC cup, has genuine star quality. Doesnt fill a need but the genuine talent is hard to ignore, a game breaker.

Be ok taking Balta at 6 too, i know its probably early for him because hes a bit rough around the edges but he is so athletic and could turn into a rebounding key back. Reminds me a bit of a young Alex Rance, just needs to work on his flaws and know his limitations until he improves in those areas ie composure. But the rewards for taking him could be fantastic, its a risk but if we did go tall would prefer over Brander.

I think medium tall forward utilities in that 188-193cm range are a need. DeGoey can do it, Howe possibly, Sier remains an unknown but plays a bit at HF at VFL level. Of the others, Langdon, Crisp, Scharenberg, & Maynard seem better suited behind the footy, while Pendles and Wills seem midfield. Would be happy to see us draft a Fogarty, Stephenson or Bonar type. The issue being that these top 10 picks you're looking for something special in terms of KPP or midfield, not flanker 3rd tall types.

Are we better off drafting another gun midfielder this yr.. getting Lynch next yr.. and offloading a few of our reasonable/good quality midfielders next yr for good draft picks.. and using those picks on rectifying our deficiencies.

It looks like we've resided to the fact that we're not a chance next yr given we didn't make moves for Stringer and Schache.

I just updated this with some new selections by DPS on the draft board, which appears to be a good resource with 60+ names.

Anyway, once again, if anyone spots any new lists (preferably Power Rankings and not phantoms, which starts getting harder at this time of year), please let me know. Preferably people that others around here consider reputable, not just random sites.

Ps and not Buckenara's list. That was all over the shop.

Which player have we developed in recent years to become a better set shot?

That's good reading. Coffield and Fogarty in range at 6. Wooller and Petty around the mark at 38. Paton and Brown for our 50s or 70s picks. Happy days.

I really want us to use a later pick on Tyler Keitel.

Still only 21 and made the WAFL team of the year in 2016 at full back and at full forward in 2017.

Ultimately state level might be his ceiling but given his age and lack of exposure in an elite AFL program his performances certainly warrant a shot in the AFL I would have thought.

Who knows could be the next Ben Brown waiting to be discovered and at the very least we'll get ourselves a very good kp player for our VFL side which we need since the delistings.

The other one of interest late should he be still available is Coleman-Jones.

I see Snoop doesn't have him in his top 50 yet Knightmare has him top 20. A key forward/ruck.

Nice channeling of Dekka.

I was thinking about Keitel as well earlier when I was looking at our picks. We now have 4 picks at 56, 61, 70 and 80 (be surprised if we used all of them though) so I'd be rolling the dice on a state league type with one of these and agree there could be some Ben Brown about him.
