The height fascination is becoming a struggle and we’re still two weeks outIt's not such a miracle needed. 1 in 3 blokes picked between 30-50 play 100 games. So we should be hoping to get one decent senior player from this draft haul.
And even if they may not technically be in that range yet - you can think of them like that considering it's considered a deeper draft than normal and they'll come in a bit.
The way I see it, we're old and need to add players in most positions over the next 3 years - which is when you'd hope these kids begin coming through. Just get us a couple of future good ones, Dekka, if they're tall that's an extra bonus. But if the recruiters see a big gap between the tall and small prospects, they should go with the higher rated ones. Not doing so would be silly.
I do think we'll prob need to draft another small forward because of those you mentioned, so Pie 4 Life selecting Josh Dolan in the BF draft makes sense. The height fascination is becoming a struggle and we’re still two weeks out
With how the game is trending small forward is the area of need for that timeline, IMO. For me the loss of Richards, likely loss of Elliott within the next two years and HH’s ACL leave us exposed. Two of those guys were drafted in that range in the past 3 years so it’s not like they can’t be found.
The KPP roles could be padded out, but hits on them at that point of the draft are rare (especially so for us).
I also see Smit as a key forward - not a ruck. So would be ok with a key defender, a midfielder and a forward of any typeI do think we'll prob need to draft another small forward because of those you mentioned, so Pie 4 Life selecting Josh Dolan in the BF draft makes sense.

I am not overly impressed by the latter selections. However from what I have read & seen going into this National Draft, I would not be unhappy with any of Noah Mraz (although I think that he is likely to be picked up before our selections) Harry O'Farrell & Charlie Nicholls. I would be less bullish about Floyd Burmeister but could view him as a player whom I would take a punt on as a total "PROJECT" player given his physical attributes & his athleticism & height. We certainly do not need any more half-back flankers or small forwards & small-sized mid-fielders in my opinion. So a bloke like Hargrave - at 181 centimetres - is certainly not needed at this point in time. The same applies to Josh Dolan at 177 centimetres & also to Sam Davidson who is a small & lightweight mid-fielder from Queensland. As for Hugh Boxshall, he at least as a 188 centimetre mid-fielder might be a player that we could select with 1 of 3 selections, perhaps our final pick. I would be keener on Jack Ough but I think he will have been picked up earlier. As for a 186 centimetre forward such as Ned Bowman, that area is not a priority as we have enough mid-sized forwards. In turn, I would say that a 185 centimetre wingman/half-back such as Ollie Warburton is also not a priority area. Finally, I also think that Archer Day-Wicks will be selected earlier than our 3 selections. Overall, I think that we can do much better on Draft night/s if the chips fall our way in terms our final draft selections changing upwards. Goodnight & good luck.Mock/Phantom Draft Collingwood Selections:

There is still business to be conducted on draft night. For example, the Lions have picks 27 & 34 which will need to be traded out when the pick for Ashcroft eventually comes. Can you trade out after a player has been nominated? Seems teams always trade out before if they think their player may get a bid around their pick. Makes me think you can't. I doubt they'll have enough list spots to do it anyway, as trading out before would mean that they'd lose some of their later picks as they'd have more picks than list spots, which isn't allowedThere is still business to be conducted on draft night. Probably hard to do after they get bid upon given you only have 5 mins, so you would need to find a buyer. Can you trade out after a player has been nominated? Essendon for example would have been able to get a buyer lined up beforehand, but they didn't risk a bid on Kako - makes me think you can't trade out after a bid.Probably hard to do after they get bid upon given you only have 5 mins, so you would need to find a buyer.
My only hope is hits I’m not particularly fussed by role other than having a preference for a small forward. My hope though is for a hit or two no matter the role. I’d be perfectly happy with three general defenders if that’s the path we chose and we wind up with a hit or two.I do think we'll prob need to draft another small forward because of those you mentioned, so Pie 4 Life selecting Josh Dolan in the BF draft makes sense.

That one was weird. My guess is the Dees told them if they held pick “9” Kako wouldn’t get past the Dees pick. What I can’t figure out is why Essendon didn’t hold the pick and sell it to the highest bidder after trade week in the lead up to draft night. I guarantee North would have offered more for it WC or Adelaide too probably.Essendon for example would have been able to get a buyer lined up beforehand, but they didn't risk a bid on Kako - makes me think you can't trade out after a bid.
They got a lot of picks in this draft from Dees as well as their future first. It'll probably give them a couple of picks in the 40s after matching. They may have preferred those picks in this draft to an extra future second or whatever else they would have got instead. That one was weird. It always feels like drafting discussion is aimed at past holes rather than the only holes that can be filled - future roles. My only hope is hits I’m not particularly fussed by role other than having a preference for a small forward. For all the carryon relating to trading picks between 2015-19 we’ve wound up poaching 4 best 23 fits since (Houston, Schultz, Hill and Lipinski) and the same will happen in future years across the 2021-2025 drafts, but in the meantime hits in any role reduces the reliance on trade.

It's funny that he needs to work on his endurance, when his brother could run all day.Wonder how his family feels about us after delisting his brother lol
