Based on:
  • Not watching under 18's
  • Not watching the interstate games
  • Not have the networks to link with
  • Watching some VFL Collingwood matches this year (mostly after half time)
  • Not having much of an idea about who is who in the draft this year
I believe I am well placed to provide an informed opinion on our number 6 pick:

I want Bonar: the magnificent.

Then why do you want Balta?
I'm just in love with him this week, I'm fickle like that, he's a longer shot than Brander but that dash is pretty addictive

Can you imagine Brander becoming the goal square gorilla we need and we don't pick him?

Because that post trade analysis will look like this:

We needed a key forward, he was the best key forward in the draft... what the **** were we thinking?

I must be one of the only people on here that will be crushed if we take Balta
Judging by the outrage over us paying overs for a need - a line breaking back flanker, I assume that this board will be outraged if we pay overs for a different need.

Brander doesn’t look a strong kick. They fade and curl. That’s a worry for me as someone having a set shot. I don’t think he’s worth pick 6.
I like Stephenson. He’s a good mover but also unsure about his kicks.
Balta looks a great kick. High and direct but not sure about the way he moves.
No real stand outs for me.

Marsh was ok as a forward but practically no impact as a mid.

To be fair he was never played as amid at any level in his late junior and AFL/VFL career.

Seems to be making a half decent fist of it (being in the midfield) in the WAFL now but before anyone says anything I agree that's neither here nor there.

From what I understand, he is not on our radar, we are looking really good to get one of the top 5 mids with Freo opting to take Naughton (sp?) at 5.

What do you think has possibly changed with Freo now getting pick 2 as well? Will it affect who we had in mind? They seemed very insistent on getting that pick for Weller & they succeeded.

Yep, with Freo getting pick 2 they will take one of the mids and a tall, leaving one of the top 5 mids available to us at 6.
Not sure what will happen if all the top 5 are gone.

I reckon Freo played it beautifully

They've played it beautifully to fulfil their needs/wants, but at the same time, to have a club with 2 picks ahead of us probably also works in our favour to a certain extent.

Yes, they may take Naughton who could be on our radar, but it means we're more likely to get the 5th best player in the draft rather than purely the 6th best.

I've come to accept that we'll probably get another mid. My preference would be to get one who can start in the backline in a role like Maynard. Maybe with some extra pace. Is there anyone who fits the bill?

Good way to make people with legitimate knowledge not want to share it on the Collingwood board

Yeah man I thought you were polite and the response unnecessary, I was inquisitive, feel free to PM me what you know and your sources...

Just watched Branders YouTube highlights, nothing exceptional and 2 absolute shanks. Don't think we need another forward who can't kick. Why we would take him and 6 and not schache at 2nd/3rd round is beyond me

Are you deliberately describing Coffield who we've described in depth in this thread or genuinely missed all that?
