If you could read I wouldn't have to repeat myself

Ah ha.

So that's 500 meters gained for a 400+ average this year....25 disposals for a 21 disposal average & a lazy 11 marks....With an 84% efficiency across the season thus far.

And all for a kid with a mere 15 games under his belt.

Our clear B.O.G tonight.

I like Dan Houston in our team playing a similar role to Burton and has a beautiful kick. For some reason he got dropped for Karl Amon, but he was taken in the 2015 rookie draft, barely registers a clanger a game. Very similar stats to Burton

Only defender who wasnt beaten and didnt make a ton of mistakes. And more to the point, didnt make mistakes.

His current form added with Birch Stratts and Frawley is going to make a great defence.

By far our BOG tonight. Shame Clarko wont give him any votes.

Huh?

Didn't make a tonne of mistakes AND didn't make mistakes. Must be magic.

25 disposals (20 uncontested) at 68% DE with 5 clangers says otherwise.

11 marks with 10 being uncontested lends itself to the fact he was a loose man most of the night.

Burton has been good this season, last night was not his best performance. His numbers are inflated by the fact the ball spent 70%+ time in the area he was playing.

Did you miss the game? Our entire defence was rubbish for most of the game. We couldnt go 20 metres without turning it over. He was easily the best of a bad lot.
Yep, easily your best.
Thought he made a few errors I the first half and panicked a couple of times but understandable with the frequency the ball was I your D50

The amazing thing is we turned it around and outscored them after half time, when usually we get belted in the 2nd half.

Burton was as important a part of that as any other on the ground.

SPP has to be far ahead of the pack.
His one percenters, his team first stuff that doesnt get a stat. Plus the bash and crash style he plays with is much harder than the non contested possessions.
Nearly a goal a game. just oozes confidence and mouthy.
Decided last night to have a shot.... from 55..... brakes out the torp... confidence!

Averaging 9 contested posessions per game with 4 clearances to go with it. And 3rd in the AFL in breaking tackles. Not everything is about disposal count most people forget that.

His 3 contested possessions were up from 1 the week before. As a loose defender he didn't seem to be giving Gibbo much of a chop out.

Gibson getting smashed too but giving away 10cm. A couple of holes in defence & it becomes a shambles.
Burton has been better defensively since I said that, took a couple of good intercept marks. Must be the spare man
Is Alex Rance played as a spare man in defence too because he takes many intercept marks or is a he just a damn good reader of the play?

One might consider many of his acts selfish ie. Mouthy and breaking out torpes from outside 50. Hardly a team first attitude

sure that wasn't a mis kick?

u dont watch many port games do you? one highlight was his run without the ball 50mtrs at least to lay a shepherd was so pleasing to see and not many established players even do that. hes so team first and protect his team mates. just ask wines and ebert the difference hes made

And I suppose comparing their footy brain and willingness to back themselves and their ability are also miles apart? Watch many Hawthorn games do you??
So you have made this comparison based on 14 games compared to one of the best in the history? Ok then :drunk:

One bloke with 12 one percenters per game vs 2.2.

Fair comparison right there. Plenty of good young defenders around but comparison with Rance? i can start comparing SPP with Judd then, he stats are better than Judd's first year but it will be a pointless comparison.
