I'm consoling myself wrt taking Toumpas that at least we didn't draft Stringer with that pick.
I'd much have preferred the early years of Stringer than the early years of Toumpas. How on earth are you consoling yourself with that?

Because with our accelerated development program, we would have brought out his deep inner 2017 in his first season.

I think we might have brought out the Toump's inner 45-year old too.

Bc Stringer is a dickhead and a genuine disgrace to the club. Toumpas was just bad at football. Sure Stringer had one good year but he in reality was non-consequential in the Dogs actually won the flag and entirely just beat up on bottom/interstate sides at Etihad in his AA year. If there's one thing the club could do without right now it's something like that. At least we got rid of Toumpas easy.

I'd rather we draft the dickhead who can play and then work on his attitude rather than draft nice blokes who are bog ordinary and try and make them good footballers

It sounds like the dees players were sad to see Jack go it appears he is a good bloke and well liked, not 1 bulldogs player has said a word about wanting stringer to stay.

Draft the better player at the time though and back in your club to manage them properly. Dusty was risky too and has given Richmond headaches the majority of his career, but they still got bloody good footy out of him the whole way through. Meanwhile we take the safe option with Scully and Trenners. Surely one of those picks should of been used on Martin.

At least we didn't skip Petracca because he was perceived as arrogant and take McCartin instead.

Fair enough, I was more saying Stringer doesn't appear like he will be missed at the doggies the Richmond players seem to love dusty for all his past faults, I think the dees are better off avoiding him, Mccartin was drafted before our pick as well but agree much prefer the truck.

I got off topic. Basically, I can't agree that with hindsight anyone can say I'm so glad we took Toumpas over Stringer.

Scully and Trengove were consensus picks at 1 and 2, if we didn't have that priority pick the Tigers were a monty to take Trengove at 2. Scully and Trengove weren't the 'safe options'

Are you glad we took both those guys over Martin?

Not good on Toumpas, at least we got Hogan and Viney that year, I try not to look any further back than 2012 not good for the soul

Gibbs to Adelaide for pick 16 and (our) future 1st
Melb picks 29 and 31 to Carl for (our) future 1st
Kennedy to Carl for pick 31

Therefore net result will be this years picks 10, 29 and watts for Jakey boy
Thoughts

Kennedy as in BenKen? Carlton would laugh at us

That’s irrelevant though, his point is they were consensus which they were. Hell, I remember wanting Scully + Butcher.
The point was being relieved of taking Toumpas over Stringer because of Stringer being a dickhead. The comparison with Martin is similar.

Look at in reverse. How many bulldogs fans would be wishing they took Toumpas in that draft because of Stringers personality
