Surely not pick 10 for Gibbs

Carlton had agreed to Gibbs for Pick 10, a future 1st, and a swap of future 2nd's. While Adelaide thought it was Pick 10 and a future 1st for Gibbs and a future 2nd.

Merely two 1sts involved in this trade is an absolute calamity!

I can see how a misunderstanding occurred. It's hard to flesh out exact details while you're storming out of the room in the middle of a tanty.

Also Stringer and Dusty clearly aren't comparable given Stringer is being forced out and Dusty never was. Should have phrased the question better. With hindsight, you're glad we took Toumpas over Stringer. With hindsight, are you glad we took Scully and Trengove over Martin? Not sure how you could be. Both the doggies and tigers have a flag since then. Not to say those players were the catalyst for that, but don't think you'll find to many of their supporters bemoaning their drafting of them (with hindsight) due to their dickheadedness (sweet word).

Also just from my mate as well. He has that while a lot of people have hated what we’ve done, we are now the most popular club to deal with. A lot of bridges have been burnt this year but all clubs now hold us in high opinion. Get in get out and get on to the next trade. Also said a lot of clubs want to make moves but are blocked. Melbourne clears the congestion early and then they focus on what else.

Yeah it's a fair point ... Player X wants to find more opportunity, or Homesick Player Y wants to come home to Melbourne, if assessing options, if a club knows they can get a deal done with us with minimal fuss, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

It opens things up for us going forward. Some clubs refuse to deal with each other. Apparently WCE struggle to get deals done as do swans.

We are jettisoning a lot of salary cap. Maxy will get a nice little increase I imagine, but I am now asking “what else”. Rory Sloane next year anyone hahahaha.
