O'Brien suits me fine so long as the makeup of our following picks produces a balanced suite of mids, plus a small forward, and a tall.
If we wind up with O'Brien, Constable, Kelly, Miers, Worpel, Miller for example I would be very enthused.

Picking O'Brien at 13 and Constable at 21 would be the stuff nightmares are made of... Might as well pick up a few ruckmen and/or small defenders, plus Schloite at pick 69 to complete the deal.

I don’t think that’d be too bad really. I like the O’Brien pick more if we’re expecting gaff to leave. If not then yeah I’d rather someone else.

Depends if we picked those two up and followed that with Kelly at 26 and then Worpel at 32 .
I would be pretty happy with those additions to our midfield mix.

Yeah, wouldn't be so bad if we nailed our next 3 picks, but it would be worse if we overlooked some arguably better options at those picks, hopefully they will be as close to "best available" as possible if we do select them.

He does three things significantly better than Gaff.

1. He is much faster.
2. He is a much better kick
3. Can mark the ball overhead.

He can play a similar role but do it better.
He footskills are elite and probably the best of this years cohort.

Because we can take contested players later in the draft. O'Brien was rated as a possible Top 5 pick but struggled with injury this year. If he's the best available and we pick up Constable, Kelly and Worpel/Starcevich, then we have a good mix of inside and outside mids.

Lacks the consistency of gaff. That's why gaff went so high

Scott Jones has interest from clubs sounds like Fremantle a chance .
Means we won't be looking at a ruckman maybe or at least not Jones .

Why get Jones when you can have a developing ruckman who should be ready in 5 years time when the eagles are ready to challenge for a flag.

I am really liking the idea of Stephenson.

It would also complete our need for a quality forward. That means the recruitment team have to decide if Starcevich is really a midfielder which he has not shown to date. Venables is far more half forward than midfield so looking pretty full when you consider Rioli and Waterman.
