The hype on Ryan was exciting a few weeks ago. I must admit my exposure is limited to a few highlights, but all iI was told by some that watch the WAFL was how good he was/is. Now we actually have picks it is a different case it seems. I did see him play a full game in the WAFL GF and based on that he doesn't look like the saviour. Poor under pressure and tends to only run one way it appeared. But it was only one game. He seems to excel at the pack mark, but is that realistic in the AFL?
Has he fallen out of contention?
Wouldn't use a second round pick on him.
69 if we use it or rookie. I reckon he would be a less than 10% chance of playing 50 AFL games.

Not at all imo. I reckon he'll go alot higher than most on here seem to think.

The GF that everyone seems to writing him off about, he had two AFL quality players effectively concentrating solely on shutting him down. In the SF with the same attention he still managed to snag 3 goals.

He'll never get that sort of attention as an AFL player

I fully endorse this wild brute qtr yeti/vampire/werewolf/man we are hiding in the pilbara for our first pick...
i bet he gives an awesome Don'tArgue!
Can anyone confirm this?
Yeap and he's a sucker for...

I've been all about Clark for a few months, and sung his praises more than once, but as we get nearer to draft day I'm starting to think Constable would be the better pick.

One is an inside brute, big bodied extractor midfielder specialist who would set us up for the next 10+ years..

The other is a part time mid HBF who has the potential to be Jared Polec. I love so much of Clarks game, namely his competitiveness, but there's definitely a degree of risk there when it comes to yet another pick unable to develop into a proper midfielder for us.

I certainly don't mind the idea of taking him with 37 but certainly not earlier. However, would prefer to see us take one tall to develop (perhaps Taylor) with 37 and all our earlier picks on capable mids.

Against our EP AFL defenders Liam Ryan has made a mess of them more then once and has been the match winner on a few occasions .

If we don't take him at Pick 37 Fremantle will at 42 .

Good on Freo.

Ryan at AFL level will have a good game here and there and even win a game or two for his side. But he lacks defensive ability and come the crunch in finals he will be as effective as he was in the last GF he played a few weeks ago.

37 will land either a Ben Miller or a project ruck. So much more valuable than a small forward who takes a specy but goes missing when it counts.

Biggest thing I'd be worried about for Ryan is his professionalism. Too risky for a 2nd rounder.

Could straight up be like "Nah WAFL is easier" and just think he can get by on his talent alone.

Don't think anyone's actually come out and spoken of his desire to even be drafted and be an AFL footballer yet?

On a different topic, what is everyone hoping our rookie draft strategy will be?
Youngsters, mature agers or AFL discards?

Someone posted a list of players with <10 games once we bring in our 5 draftees, and it's a long list. Should we look at someone like Jarrod Garlett, who left the AFL system for quite legitimate family reasons?

I've been banging on about him all year. If we get Garlett as a rookie it's an absolute steal. Top 10 pick a few years back, did nothing wrong, showed he can play at the level. Had a pretty good year for Souths too. I can't understand why he isn't rated higher.
