If we get Fyfe we get a top 3 player in the AFL. The thing that worries me about the rumour is why would a player commit to us this early. If we won 6 games surely he wouldn't be at all interested. I know that wont happen but it just seems not to make much sense.

Just want to point out that It could also have come from Freo to pressure Fyfe into an answer. They would want to be able to plan there list management as well and if he is saying he wants to stay and won't yet discuss contracts then they believe maybe media pressure will assist in getting him to get this organised asap.

Also re stkilda board member. Burkey did have an article early last year re Fyfe and kosi said something last August ish. So it's not like it's unbelievable that someone with connections to us has said something

Its all rumour at the moment, but just imagining Fyfe playing for us is a salivating prospect.

Instantly improves our midfield and frees up every other midfielder we have. I think someone like Billings would also benefit a great amount because suddenly he goes down in the list of priorities for opposition coaches to contain. And imagine how excited Jack Steven would be not being tagged every week...

Not to mention he also has the ability to go up forward and provide another forward 50 target for us.

Get him Saints, even if it means we have to trade him.

Fyfe would know where the status of his negotiations are at though wouldn't he? If it came from Freo and Fyfe knew it was incorrect I can't see how that'd pressure him into a decision.

I think it's pressuring Freo into a decision if anything. If you are right then that's some really really poor stuff from Freo, he is their captain and they are going to go behind his back to spread lies about his playing future? I haven't seen it done before where a club has leaked wrong info to media about one of their own players. Usually it's the players manager.

I don't mean to alarm anyone and by no means do I know for certain that what I'm about to say is 100% correct.
An industry source, from a rival club has informed me that Fyfe has signed a 5 year, $1.5m a season contract with us...
Like I said, it might not be entirely accurate, or it might be. Watch this space.

Now, I may be wrong, but wasn't a certain Wayne Hughes head of their list management at that time? The same Wayne Hughes who was given a gig in trying to lure opposition players over?

If so, the bloke has form and alongside Bains could be able to make a very professional pitch for Nat's services. Would be the best mid we have had since Robert Harvey.
