none of the WA boys are really lighting my fires this year ... the two Liams are good players but i cant see either being first rounders

i'd love naughton beyond that the rest are smokies/later selections

i like england, ainsworth (not really a need but will be a star inside mid), taylor (big bull CHB), roe (attacking HBF), plus theres a couple of quick outside types but theyre rookie prospects

I would have thought Tim Kelly could be a handy acquisition if he were available later?

To the person who said I missed the mark with Carlisle & said he is elite (then deleted the post).... Sorry, but Carlisle is a very good player but he is not anywhere near elite. Rance is elite, Michael Hurley is elite. Carlisle is not at that level

He's not that far off. I think he will be there next season. Took a little to get back into the swing of things, but he is bonafide LEGIT

Imo our best player... hands down.

Shite. Bonar, Brander, Stephenson, Cerra, Coffield or another promising young player over a 24 year old who, let's face it, has likely reached his ceiling and is probably a slightly above average player.

It's like paying through the nose for Schoenmakers or Watts or Matera. Maybe they were highly rated at the start of their career, but it has been pretty lacklustre since. He has a big tank, yes. But I watched him spud a few kicks without serious pressure during the finals.

Yep very average kick. I honestly can’t believe the talk of 8, even with a decent pick back.

Is he really that far off Michael Hurley though?

They're pretty equal in marking and actual disposal of the footy with Hurley being a better athlete.

I've heard recently Bombers saying Hurley is a better defender which might be true but both of them prefer to be the third man up marking the footy and peeling off their direct opponent.

Carlisle has the added benefit of being a better forward as well.

Don't get me wrong I think Hurley had the better year as well but I don't see that much of a difference between the pair at all beyond Hurley being quicker.

Even then after Hurley and Rance who is clearly better than Carlisle?

Robbie Tarrant perhaps but top 5 in his position if that's not elite then he's not far off it at all

May, McGovern, Tarrant would be next rung down from Hurley & Rance.

I would have Jake on the next rung below the above guys, on par with guys like Harry Taylor, Rampe & co

I don't rate very many players at the Saints that high but Carlisle is one of the best in his position.

Harry Taylor in his prime sure was a gun but I don't think reputation aside I can ever think he was on a similar level to Carlisle. Once again he has/had a better tank so there's that but I think Carlisle is better then every other way, marking, kicking, decision making etc..

I would have him very comfortably equal to McGovern (a bit higher actually cause Jakey is a better kick as well). I can see May being a more imposing defender though.

My main "issue" with Jake is that he doesn't have much of a tank and he's got poor acceleration. He can run fast but doesn't to top speed very quickly.

May, Carlisle, Haynes, Talia

McStay, Hamling, Liam Jones etc..
