“I have been confused with what North Melbourne is doing,” he told SEN Breakfast. - It's pretty obvious isn't it? 11 debutants last year and we're putting games into them instead of Gibson, Mullett and Hansen.

“I know that they’re looking to rebuild, but if you’re going to rebuild, you need to look at trading some of your more established players out for players who will attract interest from other clubs and take a risk." - Sorry, which established players are expendable and would have opposition clubs drooling so much they're going to be throwing Top 20 picks at us?

“They’ve delisted half a dozen guys, and yes some of those players like Gibson could still play at this level next year, potentially Hansen as well, and Aaron Mullett is another one. They’ve got no return on those guys." - Maybe because nobody else showed one iota of interest in giving up anything worth having on Gibson, Mullett or Hansen?

“They should be offering to pay a substantial amount of Todd Goldstein’s money to try and get some value back in a trade sense.” - I'm fairly certain someone has thought of this but no one wants him because he's been shit for 2 years.
It doesnt take a Marstermind to work that out, does it ? :)

I think we're lucky to have probably our most prominent ITK also one of our most prominent shitstirrers. Other boards wish they could.

Well yeah has been a quiet period after the our Viking style raid on a couple of clubs, just left empty handed unfortunately- but they got battered a bit.

In my opinion we are still not prepared to take a gamble/risk, we don't look at who we've got coming through the ranks and move on others accordingly. We let them play out their respective careers and then go again with someone else.

Our list management is terrible. That is my thoughts. How many flankers we got on our list? How many inside mids does one need? Is it going to make an ounce of difference having Tarrant watch the ball sail over his head next year? Or maybe without him we might lose by eight goals instead of four- makes zero bloody difference.

In saying that tomorrow could get interesting, once the dust has settled and clubs count their booty, hopefully one at least will misread where they're at and make a play for say a Goldy.

We still want to move up the order but we've had zero interest as I said yesterday that is actually alarming.

That's the draft though. As other posters above have said..draftees are unproven and it is often very hard to split (like this year's top 4) and gems like Danger etc can be unearthed or lucked into outside of the top 2 or 3 picks.

I personally believe draft picks are over valued in the eyes of many people, and would rather trade later round picks for players with track records, so long as they fit our age profile.

Eg people bang on about how shallow the draft is, yet (what is now) 23 is sacrosanct. I would have entertained trading it for Stringer and Dogs 3rd. As for Balic being traded in the 60s....FFS what are we doing? We must have a.*Hird type identified for our 3rd rounder.

I'm not sure draft picks are overvalued, obviously when assessing whether to chase a player the club looks at the calibre of player that they think are going to be around the draft picks we have before determining if what we have is in the ballpark in terms of getting us more of a guarantee on something we need.

I don't think 23 is sacrosanct, if the right type of player presented as an option than I think we would trade it. We traded our first round pick before because we got a deal we though had enough value to consider.

Stringer has nominated his club of choice, we might be an option if their talks break down, with Essendon that is always a chance. However, there is baggage associated with Stringer, there is a greater risk associated than just his potential vs what it would cost.

If the Fremantle forum are remotely close on their view of Balic, they think he is a high risk of not playing at AFL level due to 'complicated' reasons which saw him go on indefinite leave. While he may come good, you never know, our club hasn't really been keen on bringing questionable elements to the club and expose young kids to them.

Those two trades could end in abject disaster. I know our club seems risk averse in general, but you would have to trust people who are more in the loop with what is going on with players on and off the field to make the best judgement calls. It may look obvious to us on a forum but we aren't exposed to all the facts.

This should put an end to the ridiculous Tarrant trades.

Why is it so ridiculous? He'd net us a bloody good pick. I'd have kept Hansen and gone with McKay, Neilson, Thompson and Durdin.

You do realise we've won about 12 of our last 36 matches. Tarrant aint making a bloody difference.

He's been our best player in those 36 games. He's not the problem.

Love taz but would have offered saints robbie and 21 for 7 or 8 and taken cerra or dow at 4 and stephensen at 7 or 8!

And right there is our ******* problem, how's about we set the bar a tad higher than a metre underground!
Lets be realistic as well will need atleast 6 or 7 wins to finish above those teams and if we get 7 or 8 you would have to be happy with the fact we will easily be the youngest and most inexperienced team.next yr. My point was more that everyone has us pencilled for bottom when we all know we are better then those 3 other sides who have been shit forever
