Surely there'll have to interest from other clubs in Schache. In a year where talls are in short supply he will be looked at by Vic clubs looking for talls. Don't think this trade will be clear cut by any means.
I think the expectation is he will pick the tigers and the leppa connection is massive.

Not if they have been told to **** off. Lions know we can get a deal done and create a win/win.

Stringer has some home troubles but they are understandable as he had kids at a very young age.
Remember how the original Gary Ablett developed when he left hawthorn for Geelong. I think it could be the same with stringer.
He is a super talent, and the right culture could bring it out of him. We seem a good fit for these types.
Don't know if he fits our game plan but a very interesting proposition for someone.

Another player getting talked down a bit in finals particularly after the weekend is Gary Rohan.

I thought he might be a handy value play if at a cheap price that could suit our mobile quick forward line

Its a cynical strategy but is it possible Schache resigned with Lions so he had more of a say if he was traded. If he had a feeling the Lions were open to a trade and confident tigers could make it happen, being signed means he can veto a trade. Granted it means lions can too but if he knew they would be open to it and if tigers felt prepared to deal what lions want for him then Schche being under contract actually helps because its Tigers or Lions full stop.....if thats what Josh wants

Interested in the views that if we were able to get Schahe and not have to use the other first rounder on Naish we would look at another tall. I would have thought it would clearly be a strategy of selecting the best available player in that situation rather than best available tall.

Probably won't be many good talls left at 18
Re Naish I reckon after the combine the picture will be clearer on where he may go. If he kills it in the running and kicking I'm not convinced we won't have to use a late first rounder on him.

There were a couple, not huge pack busting grabs like a Jono Brown though. He more relies on his pace on the lead. He's sort of your old school forward but seems handy when the ball hits the deck too, roved a couple balls off a few packs

The thing I remember them saying b4 the draft & during some of his games last year is how good of a set shot he was during his junior days

Honestly, I am not focused on very tall.

I think we need to double down on the revolution.

If anything if we get Stringer and play him at half forward where he gets a bit more midfield exposure and maybe add Rohan on the cheap it could improve our marking strength without affecting our mobility, Dusty and Coach can still go forward, JR and the smalls still do their thing, we could be a force for years if we can get Stringer to develop and progress. The risk is over paying for Stringer though

I find it hard for us to chase Schache when Tippet is on the out, Buddy not working again in finals, Hawkins not getting the job again and the likes of Danger are getting moved forward to get the job done! Even GWS playing better again without the talls in the forward line!!

If we got Rohan it would be a value on the cheap play because he might not make the team nor might Stringer be an automatic starter either but Schache also could be a bust to.

If anything we can keep Griffiths and really go in a total different direction with a truely mobile forward line compared to other teams that really could give us a massive competitive advantage. Stringer obvious has issues there, I do not know the story there, so it might not be realistic either for him but I sensed at times he could be more effective up the ground closer to the midfield versus right up in the forward line which suits us anyway looking for bigger mids in the middle and Stringer could complement Dusty and Cotch etc...

Not sure about Josh Schache. His demeanour and effort this year must be a concern.
I have a feeling this will all end in tears. I mean, who would not want to play in a grand final FFS.

Probably Towner

No chance, Towner is a keeper, for the initial short/mid term anyway( unless he drops off significantly) and great for heart of the team. I have more faith getting behind Towner than getting in a Schache, Stringer or anybody else in terms of the specific forward role.

Happy for us to build around Towner in the forward line, JR, Graham, Dusty, Cotch, Rance etc.., Butler for sure is a keeper to

TBH I would prefer Hugh Dixon or Noah Balta over Josh Schache to me he seems to be not athletic at all which says to me that he would not suit out current game style

If we do land Schache. Who goes out of our forward line this year?
Maybe Caddy gets more midfield time?

TBH probably no one next season. He is a project for sure and we would be getting him as a Jack replacement. Fingers crossed / best case scenario he comes on in leaps and bounds in the VFL early and forces his way into the side in the later half of the year.

They beauty about Jack is he's learnt to become an incredibly good defensive pressure forward even for a big fella.

Rioli could also move up the ground to a wing eventually.

Getting Schache in is planning for the next wave beyond this main group.

Schache as a Jack replacement is madness, totally different player types and Schache never will be JR even if he had all the desire in the world due to physical limitations.

Stringer could be a miss to, he simply might not be able to get it done for other reasons as well!! He would have to get his attitude and fitness right as well as the correct role pinned down for him that would rejuvenate and motivate him which is congruent to the game team play that would have to suit our premiership aspirations

Well they wouldn't be recruiting him in to play full back.

He's tall enough to play that 2nd Ruck role too.

That's just they way I see it panning out

Exactly. I remember Yarran's uninvolved performance against us a couple of years ago and thinking if he can bring this level of disinterest to a game where we are his opponents, he's just as likely to do it again if he became one of us. Body language is very revealing and you ignore the bits that don't suit your narrative at your peril.

If they are getting Schache it would have to be in a Dixon style role probably around CHF but I would have thought that would be speculative and really Leppa would have to have a read on that. Even then note Dixon missed the goals and Port did not get the job done. I seriously doubt Schache has the mobility, agility let alone ground level ability to replicate JR to the extent I don't even factor that in as achievable not ever wanting to say never say never but still it would be a freakish event for Schache to repeat like JR given his height and size!

Clearly you aren't going to get an exact like for like swap with Jack, he's a one of a kind type key forward. But either way we will need a replacement KPF for when he goes. If Schache turns out to be that Charlie Dixon type that can Ruck a bit and that's what we are stuck with then great.

As with all things teams will work out how to counter our current small setup, then Key forwards will come back in vogue.

To me in a weak draft if the club think it's worth giving Schache a shot and with Leppa here who would know him as good as anyone being his first senior coach then I'm all for it.
