That's ok I am only repeating what his coach told me. What you do need to keep in mind when you say you don't recall him playing a great final is His average game was most players Great. The bloke is comfortably in the best 5 players that has ever pulled on a Red and White Jumper and it would still be up for debate as to where he would sit in that top 5.

Plugger would agree with you.

He would be in our best 28 easily, and I would not mind seeing him playing. I remember watching Brisbane games in 2017 and thinking at some points he looked like Brisbane's best player.
I don't know. Lets say 9 of our best 28 are defenders, and 2 are rucks.

He then has to be better than 17 other forwards or mids
Franklin
Heeney
Mills
Jones
Kennedy
Parker
Hayward
Reid
Ronke
Papley
Florent
Cunningham
Mcartin
Hewett
Dawson

That's 15 i've got easily ahead of him, and we've got Clarke and Blakey coming.

Bell would be depth, playing NEAFL until we find someone better.

I remember most of his games well. Champion. Just a bit of mayo on the story from the coach.

Don’t see much point with Bell. 28 next year. We might as well have kept Towers (I know they are not the same position wise, but similar position career wise). He isn’t going to improve immensely, isn’t better than the depth we have got (who are all younger) and would take the place of a developing kid. Definition of a list clogger I reckon. Pass.

People are acting like our best 22 is amazing, but I watched us this year and I think there is a tonne of room for players who are willing to give their all. I am positive Bell could force his way into the best 22 as while our current team looks great on paper, they often let us down rather massively. Having more players to push our best 22, either by making them raise their game or forcing them out if they are not performing can only be a good thing.

The right players maybe.

Bell has only been able to play 7 games for Brisbane seniors in two years and 19 NEAFL games. What makes you think he could push his way into the 22 if he wasn’t able to do so at Brisbane for any length of time? A team that has won 10 of their last 44 games?

We have quite a number of young players yet to reach their peak, many of which are already at the level of or have past the level of Bell.

I am not sure he adds much value for us.

Who is he replacing in our best 22 or even best 28?
He would be cheap depth which we need if we want to go deep with our history with injuries.

Also a bruiser like RUNVS said. Someone who can take the heat off our younger players when we're struggling with injuries. Could do worse for depth IMO.

If he found his Carlton form, I truly believe he could push best 22 too.

Exactly. I refuse to believe that Bell couldn't offer more than players like Hayward, Ronke and even Florent were most weeks towards the end of the season.

Love those blokes, but we can't afford to be playing them and getting little out of them when they're tired.

Agreed. I mean how many times did people say this year "well Hannebery is playing terribly, but we don't have anyone better in the reserves so lets keep him in the team"

Yeah towards the end of the season we genuinely couldn't afford to drop players.

Funnily enough, with Mills, Clarke and Jones into the midfield, I think that's actually a more pressing issue than anything else now. But I still think we can beat anyone on our day, so I am an optimist.

I am hoping in the last couple of days of trade period we can grab a couple of mature bodies. We a couple of experienced blokes running around in the neafl ready for when injuries hit. We missed out on AVB (would have been best 22 imo) but someone else that we can get for bugger all as a backup would be nice.

After trading thus far we now have draft picks 26,28,30,35, 40, 66, 84.

Blakey (if he goes pick 7 as expected) will then take pick 26 and 28 per discount points on index. We'lll still be left with some handy picks to draft with. Makes a great deal of sense converting our pick 13 as we did.

Unsure how deep this draft goes, but am excited where we now sit.

Not 28

And a forward

We have the forward line.

Papley, Ronke, Hayward, Franklin, McCartin, Reid (If fit) then players like Parker/JPK/Heeney spending time up there, etc....

We need better mids to get them the ball and way better coaching for delivery into the 50.

The game plan and coaching is the main reason we don’t score
