What’s the go Homsch?

He is gettable. Seeing as Port gave Pittard for free, Hombsch you think would be released for a 4th/5th rounder. As they were the 2 players Port told were not wanted.

Would he be better than say Collins from the VFL? I don't know much about Hombsch.

Casboult is one of the best marks in the game. Arguably the best when he is on.

That's about it.

And yet only marks the ball 4-5 times a game over last few seasons, which is less than Sam Reid.

Last 3 seasons played in
Casboult 5-5-4
Reid 6-6-6

Don’t see the point.
At best a rookie spot for break in case of emergency but not sure why we would bother.

29 next year. His stats read like a tall Gary Rohan for impact on games.

I would have a big pass on Casboult personally.

I'd take a punt on one player out of sorts with no promises. Not particularly Casboult either. I'm probably just an impatient bastard panicking when I shouldn't be.

I wanted to keep Gary anyway so there is that.

Harley categorically ruled out May didn’t he?

If nothing else, we are at the same place as West Coast were last year. They finished 8th and brought in no players. Everyone said that they were declining. Improvement from all our sub 23s and some injury luck and we will be crowned champions in 19.

And player buy-in helps!

I never understood why we didn't back Cameron more. We need the marking targets, McCartin was great but having 2 rucks means Sinclair can spend more time as a marking forward

Agree re: Cameron, I think his problem might have been coming In for a 2 ruck experiment against the GC. After that loss there was probably a view from the coaches that the experiment didn’t work. Not necessarily a knock on Cameron. If I remember correctly he spent most of the second half on the bench as the swans tried to work their way back into the game with plan A.

Langdon stays at a club where a number of players have been banned for testing positive to illicit substances over the last few years. Yet it’s the Swans with the issues.

Hard to get a player to move from elsewhere unless they are unsettled.

Most of the players agents use the threat of leaving as a levers for a contract upgrade. So never an intent to leave at all.

Turning down 1.2mill is not a big enough alarm bell for you bud? smh...

Every play we've gone for has said no. Moore, Vandemberg and now Langdon. Surprised if we didn't explore Shiel/Gaff as well... Obviously had no luck. Cleary players aren't interested in us which goes beyond everything we are, we're a club known for landing big fish and being a destination for players.

Secondly, Rohan the other day literally said the Swans "Shitted on him.' Multiple reports and journos just a month ago all said Parker wanted out and a possible trade to Essendon who Ricky Nixon said even said - parker had a meeting with the Bombers. Ricky Nixon also said Harley had ruffled a few feathers.

Yes I know Nixon is an idiot, but he's obviously heavily connected with CEOs and player agents... His 3 best mates are all CEO's of clubs. I know he says a lot of dribble, but he's probably just as accurate as McClure and Barrett.

As I said, look at all the players who have committed. Everyone we’ve wanted to keep has stayed. We have a host of kids who come in and thrive. The culture is fine. The commitment to a game plan though.. I’m not so sure.

I reckon if commentators have been using it for 15 years (Hunter West Coast) its ok to use it here. All our words come from somewhere else.

No you read someone say that Hunter the rat was a swingman type , NO ONE CALLED HIM THAT WHEN HE WAS PLAYING !

Just one thing I wanted to say. Trading for the sack of trading never works well. Port last year, Crazy Vossy @ Brisbane, etc.... You need to identify targets that are going to improve the footy club. If you can't, go to the draft.

Apparently we’re doing neither!

Minimal on the trade front. All our eggs in Blakey’s basket on the draft front.

Hopefully that’ll prove not to be true in the next few days

Starting to have 2nds thoughts on this myself.

I think the players love being at the club, we suppoosedly have great player welfare, they’d love the lifestyle up in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the Bloods culture would be drilled into them etc etc.

I just think they may not be enjoying the actual footy as much as they should/could be because the way we play doesn’t suit half our list.

Also getting Jordan Roughead according to the AVFL website. I guess certain teams can have everyone.

Jordan Roughead would be on near the minimum wage. He will be in their VFL team as a backup in case Grundy goes down. Potentially they could look at him in defence if signing Langdon means they are out of the race for May

Bedders I’m not going to bother going through the videos to prove it to you but I’m telling you they did call him that at the time...

Yeah I know, but it's crazy that their depth continues to improve while the northern states in particular lose all of theirs.

The way we play doesn't suit the AFL. You won't win a premiership with our game plan.

I think in some cases it does. It worked pretty well when we had a list filled with more limited players athletically but who were still contested beasts, like JPK, Hanners, Jack, ROK, Bolton etc.

But we have much more dynamic players now who want to break lines, run and bounce, go for screamers over their opponent, take the riskier option through the corridor, play on and move it quickly when the option’s there etc.

These are all players Horse has mostly never worked with before and he needs to wake up to it.

collins is an intercept marker, not going to replace grundy.
