If someone bids on west between 12-20 - will we have enough points for him and Khamis?
According to this link there is a 25% discount for academy selections and a 15% discount available for father/son selections.

So the equivalent picks that we might need to put up depending on where other clubs bid on West/Khamis would be drawn from these tables (Khamis on the left, West on the right).

For West, if required:

Our Pick 7 could be used to match Pick 5 or Pick 6.
Our Pick 27 could be used to match Pick 23 or later.
Our Pick 32 could be used to match Pick 28 or later.

And for Khamis, if required:

Our Pick 32 could be used to match Pick 25 or later.
Our Pick 45 could be used to match Pick 39 or later.
Our Pick 63 could be used to match Pick 60 or later.

Hope this helps.

Going to be interesting now with Gold Coast having 6 to see what they do. Maybe they try and land the twins at 3 and 6 which would give us one of Smith, Rozee or Rankine. If they go with the general theory up til now and take a South Aussie at 3 I reckon you can pencil us in for Ben King though.

How many players will we take in the main draft?
It depends on what we do with Tom Campbell and Mitch Honeychurch, who are both out of contract. If we re-sign them both, we're only getting pick 7, West and Khamis. If we re-sign one, we'll get one extra draft pick, and so on. Gowers and Lynch are 100% getting upgraded to the main list.

Hello,
I've just come to see your thoughts about who you expect to get at pick 7. If it's a choice between Ben King and Bailey Smith, who do you think you will take?
I'd be interested in your opinions or whispers (if any) you might have heard about who your club is keen on. Thanks in advance.
Most people here seem to want Smith, but I think we'd take King if it was between the two. Fills a more important need.

As things stand now, I am very confident all of Lukosius, Rankine and Rozee will be gone before our pick, which I'm sure is what you're mainly interested in. I also think the Gold Coast will take Bailey Smith at 6 for sure.

The Gold Coast have brought in Chris Burgess, Josh Corbett, Sam Collins and Jack Hombsch. No way do they take the King twins.

i think it is a bit strange that given we were looking for mature players to bolster our youth, we were not prepared to give up pick 7 it seems, a pretty big handicap for Power i'd say since that is exactly what everyone we speak to will want. I can't help thinking we are pretty confident that we will get who ever it is we are after. Not a huge jump to assume we knew the Crows and Power would try and get head of us and take the SA Players.

Quite a few here, including myself are just as interested as to who it is we want to get our hands on. Some say King, others Smith, Twomey seemed confident we could get smith even before trade period started, so there is clearly inside info on who wants who and what the likely picks will be. Smith seems to be the majority feel here, but i think Ben King is more likely, being able to play both Def and Fwd.

So Gold Coast, Port Adelaide, GWS and Adelaide hold 12 of the picks inside the top 20 this year.

I really don’t think we will have a choice - rather we will just take whichever of these two slip through.
How would I imagine that we would have the choice of the two !?

Some inside club say are keen on Rozee so he isn’t getting past 7 is what I believe.

The reason I’m asking is because it’s highly likely the big 3 SA kids go in the top 5, and rumour has that Gold Coast are keen on Caldwell at pick 6. If they go that way, it means Ben king and Smith will still be on the board, and Adelaide could pick whoever you don’t.
Personally I’d love to get Smith if we don’t trade up for Rankine.

Info from the club is that were extremely keen on Smith so I dont think he will get past us

Ben Cavarra at pick 32? It's a stretch, but that looks like it'll be our only live pick along with 7, unless a big for Khamis comes earlier.
32 is still tied to West and Khamis IMO. If West is bid on at 15 27 is gone and 32 becomes 41. If Khamis is bid around 40 obviously 41 is used there, so potentially 45 is our only live pick

You would think GC take at least one King after losing their FF and FB this trade period

They brought in mature aged KPP and will draft an excellent CHF at pick 2.

No need for Kings in that squad. Cardwell, RCD & Smith are more likely to be who they want. Potentially they trade down a few places.

Agree somewhat but, I think West at ~pick 20 and Khamis closer to pick 35.... end result is the same. Next live pick is 45.

Hadn't heard caldwells name mentioned that high. Just cant see it.

Easily. Mosy likely gets bidded at around 20ish and we will probably have another pick before 50 after taking both.
I'm tipping a J-Mac special bid at pick 19 now the Giants hold it.

After discount that puts the bid at 758, approximately pick 25. Pick 27 is 703 points which is a 55 point deficit, putting our pick 32 (584) back to 529 points, about pick 34-35. That's close to Khamis' range and just after some have O'Halloran sliding to (Twomey has him at pick 30, I'd be over the moon if he slipped to us).

Hately seems like the best fit for the suns at pick 6. Ready to go big bodied bid who kicks goals. And from SA as well.
Given they're set to pick two SA kids at 2 & 3 it's actually not a bad strategy. He just gets the job done at any level. I'd be happy with him at pick 7, especially considering he's 4 inches taller than West.

It's pretty confusing but the 25% and 15% discounts didn't come to fruition as proposed. It's just 20% for both in the first round and 197 points after that.
