Think I read Walker went off in the first minute with a dislocated finger. Any news on this?
Crocodile related injury. Club's being totally irresponsible allowing our players to play with crocs and turtles.
Gawd, what's next, bungee jumping?;)

That video was hilarious.
Croccy's jaws were taped though.
I really like the way Walks comes across in the media stuff. A fun bloke who doesn't take himself too seriously, but still has some brains. I hope he cements a place this year, and we see lots of him over the next 5+ years

Went along to training yesterday, here are my notes and photos will be coming in the next post. (Was only there for the first half), I'll try and make it for the entire hit out next time.

  • Walker dislocated his finger in the first minute of play, came to the bench, was his pinky finger (can see it in one of the photos), did not return for the game.
  • Hipwood didn't seem to be a 100% yesterday, was a great duel with Harris Andrews though, still kicked a few nice goals.
  • Berry and McCluggage are two brutes in the midfield, it's very hard to tackle them, they have a great stability around the contest, with McCluggage the slightly cleaner one with skills.
  • Mathieson was everywhere, just chose the right option and converted some very nice snaps at goal. His hands in close were terrific, lighting speed handballs to his teammates.
  • Rayner's tackling was ferocious, he landed one on Sam Mayes early on in the game next to the fence, and Mayes absolutely felt it. Crowd were clapping the effort. He also tackled Tom Bell later on in the game, which ended up in the umpire being flattened by both of them. The umpire took a while to recover. Rayner just moves so well in traffic too, his handballs out of congestion were Black-like. Great to watch.
  • Harris Andrews are phenomenal, his voice in the backline and overhead marks were great to watch. Had a huge collision with Martin, but he seemed fine regardless.
  • Charlie Cameron was electric all over the field, applying pressure and making opposition hurry their disposals.
  • Bastinac and Bewick were prominent too, with some nice passages of play. I think Gardiner butchered a few kicks (right in front of the coaches box too), so hopefully he can fix that up.
  • Beams, Zorko, Robinson, Christensen and Rich were all decent without standing up too much, just progressing nicely in their lead up to the season. Claye Beams had a shocking turnover seconds from the half time siren, resulting in Bastinac kicking long to Hipwood who slots an easy goal. Coaches and players from the orange team gave him an absolute bath while on the sidelines.
  • Hodge was providing advice and guidance to our three main backline players in Cutler, Witherden and Robertson at various points of the game.
  • Would say Big O over Archie at this point, just moves better and more impact at stoppages.
  • I didn't notice much of the other players as I"m still trying to remember the faces. We have a lot of young players at the club. FWIW, Bailey and Barrett had some very nice running and carrying to a leading forward.
  • Was a very intense hit out, was quite humid, so players were feeling it at half time. Any other questions, I'll try and remember

Bewick is the typical March champion it seems. Always looks great in the preseason but just can't carry it through to the season proper.

He would have been an A grader or close too if he could maintain his best. Sadly like many he will never be more than a solid foot soldier. Although I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong this year with Hodge mentoring him.

I reckon he's consistently inconsistent all year round

It'd be very, very handy if Mathieson stepped up and was able to consistently contribute across four quarters in the midfield to ease some of the burden on Beams and Zorko. I'd love for him to have a break out year. Appears to have been the pre season stand out this year. I'm so excited about our list heading into season 2018. The most excited I've been about a Lions team in a very long time. We have genuinely exciting talent across every line now and the additions of Rayner and Cameron is going to help add some scintillating play to our forward/midfield mix.

How did Ballenden and Payne go?
Did Skinner do any of the match or is he still recovering?
Was Witherden doing the kickins? How did Witherden look, any better than last year or improvements?

Than ks

He needs to be at his best to get a game, but when he just comes off the boil he seems to drop away quickly.

Unless he is really flying I wouldnt think he gets a game with the young wings and hff''s we have.

It's all about his hands. The days he is a one touch player he is an A grader. He just has days when he starts channeling Todd Banfield and his confidence is instantly destroyed.

Mathieson reminds me of Raines - used to consistently find a way to goal at a stoppage

I hope he ends up a much better player though. Raines' kicking still gives me nightmares
