The ad for the Fox Footy Trade Lowdown show reminds me of this thread a bit...

“My mates cousins mrs overheard someone at the bakery while getting a pie...”

Are Fox Footy finally doing something for trade week? cannot believe they haven't run an hour show each night of trade week in the past, absolute commercial negligence.

Fellas, what's Mayes worth?

Too good for steaknives?

I wouldn't be surprised if he is part of the 'mega trade' that helps us keep our 2nd round pick (22).

ie.
BL In: Neale & Pick 45, Out: Pick 4 and Mayes
FREM In: Hogan Out: Neale
PORT In: Pick 4 and Mayes, Out Picks 9, 10 & 45
MELB: In Picks 9 & 10, Out Hogan

Take out 45 and add in a future 3rd to Fremantle and I think you have it.

Yeah, if we are looking at giving up 5 and 10 for Hogan I would be annoyed if we didnt demand that 22.

4 and a now fringe player is a ridiculous deal for Neale

I think you're right. We'll probably have to give up 4, 22 and Mayes and get Neale and something else (a third rounder) back

You do get that Freo are getting pick 9 & 10 for Neale in this proposed deal?
Which is equivalent in points to 4 & 22.

I only mentioned that Mayes could help us keep pick 22. It all depends on how Port (or Adel) rate/want Mayes. If not we keep Mayes and have to hand over pick 22 or next year's 2nd rounder.

Nathan Fyfe on a pre GF panel this morning said that he and Ross Lyon have been talking to Lachie Neale and that he has got opportunities at Brisbane that he is exploring but we are confident we can offer those opportunities at the Dockers.

IMO it had a vibe and reading between the lines that Neale sees our list as in a better position for future success than the Dockers and that he's likely coming to us.

I think if we are giving up mayes I'd be looking to move a future second and get back a third or future third - just to spread the load of lost picks a bit more.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves with that article.

Best case scenario would be we trade our first, Mayes and downgrade our second.

I try not to factor in future picks because of Nobles comments and they just won't be as attractive as the same pick this year for most clubs. Especially Freo

Future picks might appeal to the Suns though. They could be involved in this via May.

Yeah I'm not assuming anything with Port, however I'd prefer to stay in the second round of this draft if we can - losing Mayes is probably the only way we could do that (probably requires a third club as TBD says).

Seems about right since trades rarely involve 3 for 1

I dont know why we would be nice just because Port might be paying overs for pick 4 to get Rankine.

If we know you'r paying unders, Rosich would be negligent not to squeeze for more. We are going to squeezed for Hogan, only fair we do the same :)

Maybe port would accept our first, third and Mayes for 9 and 10 but I doubt it. Or perhaps future second instead of third this year

I think 4 has more value than that to Port. I think Rankine is a lock to be there at that pick given who has picks above it. There is also Adelaide competing for the pick given Luko and Rozee might be off the board by then.

I think theres a chance that 4 is enough for 9 and 10 by itself but might need a top up. Wasnt sure on Mayes value

I'd say Mayes is probably worth a third rounder - a year ago he might have been in the late second conversation but he struggled this year. A bit better than steak knives but not really worth a second round pick.

Last year Mayes had years to run on his contract and was top 5 BnF. He was a late first rounder with ease.

Brandon Parfitt.

I totally agree, I thought he was trying to put a positive spin on it by saying that with hogan coming to Freo, they’re now a destination club.....while also saying that Neale could explore his options....Neale is ours!

I think some on this board overate best and fairest finishes in bottom teams.
