What is strange is that we already had pick 73.

Surely there is little to no difference between pick 68 and 73, so it seems strange to trade for 68 when we already had a pick of the same value already.

You would think that if Richmond accept 68 for Stengle that they also would have accepted 73 as it is pretty much the same value, seems a bizarre trade to me unless we're giving them both 68 and 73 to get the deal done.
how many list spots do we have? could it be that a big pick swap trade is about to go down and we need some extra picks to take to the draft (ie if we traded out and ended up with 1 or 2 top end picks, did we still need another 3 or 4 picks to fill our list?)

I don't understand why we just didn't give a future 4th straight to richmond?

they must have wanted more picks this year. They are losing a lot of players.

Wonder if it will be 68 for their future 4th rounder and Stengle

Then makes the trade overall for us: Adel 2019 4th for Stengle and Richmond 2019 4th (so almost free, 8-10 downgrade at worst next year and paid to take him best case!)
But for Richmond makes it: 2019 4th + stengle for 68.

If thats ambitions (which probably is) we throw in 73 this year also.

Makes sense if they need to go deep and we dont

Are we really going to be spitting chips about picks that we were not going to use anyway? Seriously?!

Nah, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't honestly matter. My point being is why are we having to go around and muster up picks for a rookie who's played 2 games, given the other trades that have unfolded so far this period.

It's pointless arguing, but in comparison is what you could call massive "overs" if 68 and 73 are in fact the deal, for what we are getting.

What's our 2019 look like?

1st, 2nd, no 3rd, 2 x 4th, 5th?
Makes it easier to trade for a 2019 r3 pick and repair our future picks hand to then be able to trade 2019 r1 pick this draft.

Ed. Oh wait, we gave away our 2019 r4 pick so our 2019 is actually 1st, 2nd, no 3rd, no 4th, 5th, ... now.
Maybe means we wont be trading our 2019 r1 pick this draft after all.

He was taken as a 17 year old. Each club was allowed to take one a year if they wanted to. Ken had the better playing record at that stage. Pavlich blossomed with WWT the next year and Freo got lucky taking him at 4. Ken was a fine player for us. Wish we could have nailed a few more players of Ken's calibre over the years.

Ken McGregor was a sensational steal - 150+ games out of a pick 75

The whole Pavlich comparison is unfair and unwarranted, Ken was more progressed at the time and was the correct choice, and at that point it becomes a lottery.

and there's the pay-off
Sign of a bigger trade in the works?

Make it their future 3rd rounder and Stengle and we've repaired our future picks hand right there.

Ed. Actually no, we traded out our 2019 r4 to GC so our 2019 future picks hand is even more damaged.
