So in essence Stengle for a future 4th. Fair enough.

Still an odd upgrade in the middle but beyond that, meh. I'm super curious with what we're doing with 71 + 81 as at the current moment, we can't use them.

If we are upgrading Hunter, then we just nominate prior to the draft that is what we are doing and we use one of those later picks.

Both Captains probably gone is very telling for GC. The AFL has had to come in to provide management direction, again. It really is one of the worst moves the AFL did in creating that team.
Mark Evans the CEO was a specific AFL appointment. No doubt they'll support and assist him to get the changes in place he wants though.

At this point I wouldn't be suprised to see us keep the picks we have. Crows don't rate Rankine as high as us and the only way we trade up is if we are certain to pickup Luko, which is unlikely. Not sure what the deal is with adelaide and Rankine...attitude?? But I'm led to believe we have Smith rated higher.

Can you imagine the board melting if we have picks 2 and 3 and took two Vic kids instead.

It would be worth it lol.

Absolute rubbish.

Confused about your use of the words "us" and "we".

While Ablett is well passed his best, him leaving them esp in the manner in which he did, hurt their public image.

AFL really needs to give the GCS first dibs on any QLD talent so they remain there. I wouldnt be opposed to that. I can imagine the same would be needed for any Tassie team as well that eventually joins the AFL.

They already get first dibs through their Academy, they just don't have a lot of talent up there at the moment.

I think they need to pull a Brisbane and do a complete rebuild that way. And I think they're already doing that. Rid the club of any bad characters who don't want to be there, and rebuild the side around a group of committed players, drafting primarily from country areas in groups, then looking to top up with mature trades in a few years

In that case wouldn't the club be better just delisting and rerooking Hunter. I doubt anyone would offer him a rookie spot at this point of time.

Francou is let free from contract to go there - helps GC
We could have used pick 73 but instead we trade for GC pick 68 for a future 4th (a pick / some points for GC 2019 for trading a pick they were not going to use) - helps GC
are we working on another deal that might benefit us?

Wouldn’t it be good to get that off their minds before exams?

Probably don't want to encourage the idea in kids minds to the extent of "**** It, I'm getting drafted, these exams don't matter".

Also, give well over half the kids who nominate and consider themselves a realistic chance don't get picked up, it would be a tad hard to go through with your exams after that disappointment.

Finally, clubs like getting their mits on new draftees in the week after the draft. Clubs aren't really interested in selecting a player, then not seeing them for six weeks.

Not sure I could focus on my exams with the draft hanging over my head.

Reminds me that I will never forget one exam I had at Wayville.

It was a 3hour exam and fortunately/unfortunately I noticed a stunning girl to my right with 10 minutes to go before the end. She was that distracting.:$

sad face. guess i'm just hoping we one day live up to the lofty highs of two years ago when it all went down to the wire with Gibbs first time around. that was a really fun afternoon.
Yes it was. It was an orgy of gifs, silly comments, much lols & hysteria, hitting refresh every 5 seconds. I remember giggling like a little kid.

Then, when the dust settled, we were all... so, um... where's Bryce???

Good times.

As mentioned a few times before in this thread, ;) he has been on the list as a Rookie too long and can't be re-rookied. It is main list or de-listed as the only two options regarding Hunter.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that there is no saving that team. Describing them as a hot mess would be a compliment!

I dont rate Hunter. I would delist. If it got to the point where we needed to give him the call up to ruck in the AFL, we wouldn't lose anything using a keith or even otten instead

those di**heads on trade radio Plough and Barrett. Caller rings in from Adelaide and suggests 8 & 16 to Brisbane for 5. Then 8-16 to Freo for Neale, 8 & 16 or possibly 11 to Melb for Hogan then Melb pass on to GC for May and they just shouted it down and said no no no..pick 5 waaa waa waaa. This is because that deal would benefit an Adelaide team and still give very good value to Brisbane, Freo, Melbourne and then GC. I'll bet my left nut that if it was Hawthorn instead of Adelaide propoosing a pick swap of their 8 & 16 to Brisbane for pick 5, these 2 muppets would be all over it spruiking it is a great deal for everyone
