Carlton will be in the same boat too in a few years time with the way they have gone about rebuilding their list. They are the quintessential GWS Lite.

A lot of their players coming out of contracts at the same time and some of them will command huge dollars. Cripps should hold that Club to ransom for the way they have gone about supporting him. He is one man show in that midfield and I get the feeling his AFL career will be cut short.

If salary was dispersed equivalent to production Cripps would be on at least $3 mill a year.

Suns loose Lynch, KK, Hall, Barlow, Rosa, Rischitelli, Scrimshaw so far from main list and probably May leaving them with 30 players
they have added Ellis, Miles, GHS, Collins, Burgess, Corbett puts them up to 36

I may have missed someone but that looks like 8 players out and 6 in. They only have 4 list spots left if they go to 40 + 4 rookies

What are they going to do with 2 3 5 19 24 29

They either need to either consolidate picks or trade out picks this year for next year or there's more leaving.

No need to panic, there's so many options, something is on the cards and Hamish doesn't have to sell the farm.
If we arent trading in a player I hope we take 5 picks to this draft.
If your calculations are correct, this makes them even less likely to trade in a bundle of picks for 2 and 3 or 3 and 5 or whatever. They are more likely to give us 24 and 29 for 21 as dump. We could then swap 29 for a pick from next year.

Rozee on AA now, speaks very well.

I heard that interview too FROGGY.

He was very impressive. Basically regards himself as a mid-fielder where he's played most of his footy except for this year where he was mainly used either at HB or HF. Quite comfortable in all 3 positions which is one of his strengths.

When asked what was his greatest strength it was that he saw himself as an impact player. He said that he might not get 30 possessions per game but if he got 20 he could make a real impact with them. Anybody that saw his performances in the finals with North Adelaide wouldn't argue with this!!

As for weaknesses he believes that he could improve his stamina and had been working already in the pre-season to improve this!!

When asked, he said it would be good to be at a club with a fellow SA draftee, but at the end of the day, not essential, as they all have their own individual careers to worry about.

An extremely well spoken, balanced individual - would love to have him at the Crows (as I would with Lukosious and Rankine).

Geez, I'd like to have Gold Coast's draft picks!!

Did you read the post, which Shaz was responding to? 70lethal listed their INs and OUTs, and therefore how many list positions they have available to fill.

They could accumulate 40 draft picks... but it's no use if they only have 4 list vacancies to fill.

Correct - the only 2 things they could do with the picks is bundle them up for a better pick or a player, or they trade them for future picks which in itself is not a bad strategy to keep themselves relevant in the year(s) to come

Oh god I was reading it back to front. Been a long day...

I suspect they might delist a few more bottom feeders. So far they've only cleared out Rischitelli and Barlow plus some rookies. They still have Lonergan and Leslie out of contract.

He could be taking the piss. The AFL is a joke.

Having watched most of the SANFL GF in 2018, its a pity decades ago we didnt introduce interstate teams into our competition first.

Cut the SANFL teams down to 6 and have a team from Perth, NT, Syd and Tassie.

Its a pity that the SANFL - Basheer didnt have the foresight to do this. Mind you easy to sit back and say this in hindsight.

Basheer could have benefited from BigFooty in the 80s. :drunk::p

As per the post above by 70lethal, they will only be able to take a maximum of 4 players at the draft. They have 6 picks. Potentially they can package up 19, 24 and 29 and see who can get them the best possible offer in this draft. Otherwise, they could do some pick swaps into 2019. If I were them I'd take 19 to the draft and look to package 24 and 29 into next year. Maybe for a first, otherwise for two 2nds.

I still cannot understand why GC didn't target more of the FA players.

Surely enough talent there to at least put up a team that is competitive, even Andy Otten would add value that they don't have.

Otten would have been a great swing man for their team, esp given the exodus of May and Lynch.

They have NFI how to build a list or to support the young kids coming through.

I've previously posted that Norf did very well this trade period through smart decision-making

I will now add that the Hawks have done very well also, but i don't know how to describe how they did it

I sense a Hawthorn fairytale happening in 2019.

Its been literally years since their last flag.

Perfect year to send a couple experienced hard bodies like Cheney, Kelly, Otten, CEY for those 2 picks and collect overs.

A couple of project types like Bailey Williams so no need to play next year or a Berry or Bytel at 29 would be cheap

Coniglio and kelly to the crows
pick 2 and 3 to GWS
Jake kelly to the suns
Passes my sniff test.

Assuming an injury free and camp free year, Crows win the flag with those two players.

It would be awesome to get that talent over here.

The only way that would’ve ever worked was if WA and SA formed that together on an even footing, the problem has always been Victoria and probably will remain the main problem in the AFL becoming a truly national comp for my remaining years.
The SANFL have looked at adding a NT team previously but the AFL stepped in a started up the NEAFL, I also think they’ve discussed a Tassie team also.

Who has the higher ceiling?

McAdam or Stengle. They are both fighting for the same spot.

Why not both?

I would love to see a forward line with Betts, McAdam and Stengle to complement our talls like Tex, JJ and Lynch.

If the talls dont take the mark but bring that ball to the ground we would have an amazing three amigos to grab the crumbs.
