Anyone else think the whole trade period is like cycling match sprint? Nothing really happens for most of it and then a late flurry at the end.
Most of these deals are discussed throughout the year so why not just have 4 days

If GC were planning to trade 2 and 3 for our 8, 13, 16 and 21 would it not make sense for them to trade out this years fourth which they wouldn't use for next years when they probably would.
Would it not also make sense for Adelaide to bring in a fourth as they would have no picks from 3 until 80 odd after the Stengel trade.
Would it also not make sense for GC to turn May into Hombsch and Bayley Smith this year rather than pick 2 next year if they new they were trading 2 and 3 this year?

Talking to my club contacts at the 18 respective clubs I am hearing that trades will definitely be done today.

Also hearing there may be movement of both players and picks across several clubs.

In all seriousness (and I say this as someone who endures major frustration with our club at the best of times) -even if you consider anything less than Lukosius or Rankine a trade/draft failure for the Adelaide Football Club, how can you make that judgment when the trading a failure when picks are up for grabs right up until draft night itself?

Better still - I stand by my comments that if there is ANY movement in the top 10 from any clubs it will now be kept under wraps and not announced until draft night itself to ‘build suspense’.

This afl trade radio is so Victorian bias. They think port should trade 6 & 10 for pick 4. If I was a port supporter I would be so pissed with that trade. Giving away a top 10 to move up 2 spots.

I don't think that's true at all. If you are injured you are required to get match payments under the AFL CBA, which fall under the salary cap. And then your base salary would have to be included as it is with every player.

Scully's salary would only be not included in the cap if he agreed to a base salary which only comes into effect when he plays a game (which a player is unlikely to agree to), and even then he is required to receive match payments.

There is also no provision in the CBA for an injured player's payments to be excluded from the TPP (section 10b)

2 and 3 for our 8, 13, 16 and 21 would be great. Perhaps a sweetener add Jake Kelly and Cheney. Maybe one of their later picks back as they will not use them.

Especially considering port have a reasonable chance of getting Rozee at 6.

Yes but we would had to use 72 for Stengel which would have left us with picks 2, 3 and 83.
This way if we plan to use 4 picks we have 72 instead of 101.
