They’ve done well this period. They’ve now got 5, 10, 15, Mayes, Burton and Lycett. If they can get say Rankine and Duursma (plus someone else), who could potentially be Wingard and Polec replacements respectively, it’s a big win for them

Bullshit. Lycett is average, Mayes is shit.

They lost two of their top 5 and go to the draft, where their record of drafting and development is shit.

Its poor list management. Im sure Kane will declare Cripps has won the period. Again. Goes well with the April flags.

It looks pretty good. Don't reckon you can say they've sold the farm. They've changed the farm's speed ability, and lost some depth, but they've still got three first round picks. They've done very well.

Just need to look at what they have done to their list in order to achieve it. Does it balance out what they have lost or even improved the balance of their list, which to be fair, has atrocious depth.

In: Pick 5, Pick 15, Future 3rd (Fremantle), Burton, Mayes

Reckon that's a slight loss overall. Wingard for 5. Polec for 15. Burton for 23. Mayes for 49. Pittard for nothing. Downgrade 2nd to future 3rd for nothing.

Can someone tell why steve may is considered to be worth a top 5 pick,what has he really done to be worth that?

Because if GC was to let him go this year, they have to get close to the compensation that they would get next year if he left as a FA. May is a pretty good player. I rate him and in a good team would be a star. Not sure he is worth pick 5 but if GC hold onto him, then let him go as a FA next year, the compensation pick would be top 3 given where GC are projected to finish on the ladder. A Victorian team would give him a long term, big money deal that would get him into the tier one compensation territory.

I hate to break it to you, but as a former native of the Barossa we do actually speak the same language as the rest of Adelaide, we do have social networks and we don’t wear hats on our feet. Not only that but footy is huge out that way.

Yep they have a solid draft hand but at what cost?

And 5 doesn't guarantee Luko or Rankine.

Agree. Port spent all of last year's trading period putting themselves in a window to challenge for flags from 2018-2020.

They've just traded their way out of that window and will now have some good 29+ year olds, some good 18 year olds, and Ollie Wines in the middle.

The Polec/Wingard replacement idea is nice in theory, except by the time they're at that level Ryder, Gray, Westhoff etc. will all be gone

Port went in with intent and got what they wanted. Kudos to them. It conflicts with what they did last trade period but they've succeeded here.
