Bullshit. Lycett is average, Mayes is shit.

They lost two of their top 5 and go to the draft, where their record of drafting and development is shit.

Its poor list management. Im sure Kane will declare Cripps has won the period. Again. Goes well with the April flags.
Lycett will be okay for them. Mayes might be too, if he’s in the right headspace. Burton will be great IF he gets back to his 2017 form, big chance the injury comes back to haunt him though

We’ll see with their development, they’ve been decent with developing top 6 or 7 picks (Wingard, Polec, Boak, Wines - none are complete spuds)

Well once again the crows have been slow off the mark, hate being beaten by Port. They are locked in now for Rankine. Meanwhile we'll probably get some of the lower ranked SA players.

Not really, as we haven't had to trade 2 of our top 6 in the B&F to get where Port have. They've made the best of a bad situation. If we'd traded Greenwood & Doedee (who finished in the same spots in our B&F) we may have been able to get to the same position as Port have, but would we really have been happy with that?

Lol amazing. Good thing I no longer care about footy, or else I'd be really upset by this.

Port have stolen the show.
Have given us a masterclass in how to trade. Anyone who doesn't admit that is not viewing things honestly. ****ing disappointing.

And when we review the draft in a few years time, I am willing to bet that Adelaide would have done better than Port Adelaide. Our drafting record and our player development record speak for themselves. I would back us in against any other team out there. That is one area of the club that are truly high achievers.

Do you understand they've lost two of their best players in the process? Both still young and both from SA?

Okay, might, if.

Not very compelling words for what is meant to be a great trade period for them.

So Port are looking at:

Out: Wingard, Polec, Pittard, Pick 23, Pick 30, Pick 49
In: Pick 5, Pick 15, Future 3rd (Fremantle), Burton, Mayes

Reckon that's a slight loss overall. Wingard for 5. Polec for 15. Burton for 23. Mayes for 49. Pittard for nothing. Downgrade 2nd to future 3rd for nothing.
Getting rid of Pittard for nothing is a win, really

At this stage, Port are only guaranteed Jackson Hately. Every chance Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee will be top-4. Having said that, I think they'll try and parcel up 5 & 10 to move into the top-4. They are hell-bent on one of the SA boys, and good luck to them.

Port have done well considering the position they put themselves in. IF Wingard was truly a cancer and IF Lycett does well and IF they get their target.
I think all of those IFs will work out in their favour and they will come out of this trade period in semi-rebuild mode, but fair enough considering how alst year went for them. But shit, if Wingard wasn't a cancer they've messed up, and if they miss the draftee they are targetting, they've messed up.

Is this one of those trade periods where we wait and wait and wait for us to do something more and it never happens?

If so, it’ll be a bit disappointing, but I’m happy with our top 4 picks.

We did do something. We gained two players in areas of need, lost one player from that same area. Gained another first round draft pick to add to the two we already had from last year. We have four picks in top 21. That's a strong showing and yet there is still a long way to go into November to see how it will all plan out in the end.

If they get one of the two of Luko or Rankine then they've achieved their goal. They're taking a risk and trying to change their future. Waiting to see what we do with the rest of the day but they've definitely been a lot less cautious than we have. Is that a good thing? Time will tell, but last year at this time we thought we'd made out like bandits and couldn't wait for this draft because of the great SA talent, and we've effectively been leap-frogged by them in the order.
