Agree, brisbane and especially hawthorn are clueless for doing this trade. Burton, one of their best youngsters and pick 15 for Wingard. Wingard i repeat. One of their worst trades for 10 years.

Hawthorn have an excellent record of maximising players potential.

I'd back them to win the trade, hands down.

Indeed. In my view it is activity to disguise their descent into mediocrity. I rate Burton but not higher than Wingard Polec and Pittard combined. Mayes is meh.

Finishing so low on the ladder helped us gain pick 8, but we lost on our future trades. We gave up 27 in the Gibbs deal and 46 in the Lever deal when I bet we were thinking those should have been closer to 38 and 55

You’d wanna hope that Burton knee is sturdy and his dip in form was an anomaly or else that’s a high risk trade just to reach break even.

So we moved pick 16 from 2017 to 2018 (stronger draft)
We upgraded pick 27 to pick 21
We traded McGovern for pick 13 and McAdam
We traded Lever for Gibbs
We traded pick 35, 46 and a 2019 3rd for nothing
We gained Stengle for effectively nothing
(We turned Wigg and some junk picks into pick 40 last year, effectively replacing pick 35)

Of course those aren't the exact trades. Reckon we did pretty well with the first three. Lever for Gibbs isn't great. Giving away pick 35 is better when you consider we effectively got that pick back in the Wigg trade.

I imagine other clubs being a hustle and bustle of activity behind closed doors while at the crows we have 1 guy at a desk looking over paperwork going "ah ha, OK, I see". Lol.

Losing CC hurt, but from what little I saw from the Fog it looks like a great deal.

Do they still have 10? Someone on their board had them with only having 5 and 15.

There is no doubt 5, 10 and 15 is a better draft hand than 8, 13, 16 and 21.

But we didn't have to give up two of our best players to get that hand

There's nothing official on trade tracker, afl site, fox Footy etc, but if I understand, wingard for 15 and Burton was PA getting shafted, but coincidentally upgrading 6 to 5 makes them win the trade period?

Ultimately, what would be best is that we trade with Saints.
That way the draft goes;

1. Carlton = Walsh
2. GC = Lukosious
3. GC = Rankine
4. Crows = Rozee
5. Port = LOLS
