Look, I am far from an expert on this but I am certain that Milera was in Port's Indigenous Academy. Just because a player is in such academy, it does not give Port the ability to big for such player and match offers. NGA and IA are different and I don't believe that you have the ability to match offer for IA players.

I am sure there is someone out there that is more across this topic than I am but I am 100% certain Milera was in Port's IA during his draft year.

Metro players not available to Port or the Crows.

Let's analyse your list a little deeper.

Brent Reilly - AFC or VFL/SANFL
Richard Douglas - Never been much interest from other clubs. Average player
David Mackay - LOL

Rory Sloane - A big retention win for the club
Daniel Talia - A big retention win for the club
Brad Crouch - Still playing, still young
Matt Crouch* Still playing, still young
Rory Atkins Still playing, still young
Kyle Hartigan - AFC or VFL/SANFL
Andy Otten - AFC or VFL/SANFL

Played less than 6 years, and left
Jack Gunston - Big demand
Jake Lever - Big demand

Played more than 6 years, and left but not for more opportunity
Patrick Dangerfield - Big demand

So even if I concede on Douglas it's a 50% retention rate. BTW you left out Watts, K Johnson and Hudson.
Despite very popular beliefs on this board, Douglas has had some pretty big offers from Victorian clubs but wanted to stay for less mind you. Certainly had a big offer from Melbourne while Roos was still a coach there.

We all know when Dmac signed that 4 year deal, at reported $400K per season, it was at the back of a pretty big offer from Melbourne at the time. I am not sure if we matched it or came close, or if we gave him less money per year in exchange for a 4 year deal but the offer from Demons was sizeable.

Both Crouch boys had big offers from Victorian clubs but chose to stay. Brad from Hawks and Matt from St. Kilda.

He is only 21 too. Poholke being contracted is probably what stops us from trading for him last week. Maybe we still take him in the draft if we end up trading into fewer picks. But otherwise we should definitely be adding him to the rookie list. Signarello surely not retained. Poholke, CEY and Partington in the SANFL and maybe only one survives the cut at the end of 2019.
They chose to re-contract Poholke this year. That means they never intended to trade him. His contract wasn't what stopped us from trading him, the fact that he was a required player is what stopped us from trading him.

The club certainly sees something in Poholke. I'm not seeing it yet though. Really needs to work on his speed of disposal and awareness.

He'll want to pull his finger out pronto because to this point he's not shaping like a player that's a certainty to get another contract, far from it at this point. I was quite bullish about his prospects when we drafted him but he's certainly not come on as expected, just doesn't seem to have the inside game someone of his stature should have and he's not shown enough athletically at this point to suggest he could make it as a medium forward.

It wasn’t meant to be a criticism of Luke, I know nothing about him.

It was that Port has no depth and will be looking to top up with delisted free agents.

Port might have no depth, but they certainly don't have many list spots available.

Might be a choice between retaining Neade/Trengove & taking Partington though.

They have to promote Houston (3 years rookie listed, contracted for 2019)

And their B&F reserves winner (Snelling) is also a 3rd year rookie. So he's a promote or delist person.

Did we know Partington was going to be available for nothing though? We re-signed Poholke before the grand final and it looked like Gaff was gone at that stage. I doubt West Coast would have floated his name before then. By the time Partington's name would have come up, Myles would have been extended imo.

It's an area on our list that I think is weak. Mids in that age bracket. I have doubts about Myles due to his decision making. It's something that other players have fixed, so hopefully he can too. Its not a big deal for me. Partington would be just as speculative as Poholke imo.

Doesn’t it go straight into the rookie draft?

There's a 3.5 hour break scheduled between national & rookie. With a DFA period in between.

Friday 23 November 10am – 1.30pm - NAB AFL Draft Selection Meeting (Round Two onwards to conclusion).
Friday 23 November 1.30pm – 2.30pm - AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period (3)
Friday 23 November 2.30pm - AFL Club List Lodgement (3).
Friday 23 November 5pm - NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft Selection Meeting and NAB AFL Rookie Draft Selection Meeting.

I'd bet that almost every player in the league who has played over 50 games has received offers to change clubs at some point

Gold Coast is really interesting.
They clearly need two calls - like the King twins, but might think they are a flight risk.

They clearly need elite talent - like Lukosious & Rankine, but might think they are a flight risk.

What they do will determine the whole draft.
They’re the Gold Coast. Their spectators are a flight risk.

They just have to pick the best talent available.

They obviously didn't know, but I doubt that would have made any difference.

I'm not a big fan of picking up someone else's rejects, on the basis of "they just didn't get an opportunity because that part of their team is loaded with talent". If they're not good enough to get a place in their team, then adding them to ours does not move us closer to matching them.

maybe try and get Sk Kilda's 2019 2nd back in that deal so it would potentially be a 5-10 pick downgrade from our 2019 1st to their 2019 2nd
Given the saints have already said they want 8, 13 and 16 for 4 I can't see how we're going to do this trade with them

So Signorello has been delisted just now but no word on Cheney. How many picks are we left with if we sign Cheney?
It always feels a bit open ended when we delist a player without him getting a game. I thought he looked like he had something. I thought Ed Curnow had something too. Hope he gets a crack at it somewhere else.

I thought we were discussing Rankine?

Not Milera.

Surely the King brothers are the least flight risk of the top 10 if they are taken together?

One would be less likely to leave without the other.

if we managed to get 4 & 6
Assuming we know GC will take king twins

CAR- Walsh
GC- TWIN
GC- TWIN
US- Rankine
Pert - Luko
US - Rozee

We may be able to get luko back in a couple years
