Interesting to note that in the phantom draft on foxfooty (from round 2 onwards) Chirgwin doesn't get selected till pick 64. Think he's better than that.

Brisbane must have given Port an assurance that they won't make a bid on Mead. Not that they would have this early anyway.

Didn't Beatson say in one of the interviews we'd be finished by pick 45? Maybe this deal means we will now use pick 61 and intend to package up a couple of our earlier picks to move up? Or pick 61 has a more attractive or specific resale value on its own to another team?

To get to a 38 player list we needed to take 5 of our 6 selections. 68 after all of the bid matches was worthless to us and bundling that up with 65 to get 61 means we get some value from the pick. Get to a 38 player list and 61 will likely be in the mid 50's by the time the Hawks and Power match their academy bids.

68 was worthless to us as we weren't going to use it. We now get a higher pick that will move into the 50's once bids are matched by Port and Hawks for their academy players.

1. We weren’t using these picks so helping a team out so that they can return the favour next year if needed.
2. Bundle 61 with an earlier pick to move a few spots.
3. Trade 61 for a future pick to Saints or Collingwood who don’t have many picks this year.

Brissy spent a 2nd rounder moving up one spot ! Port need to stay under the bid for their guy Mead. Looks like no deal to be done the first two picks.
Brissy interested in Schoe according to Twoomey. As expected the real bargains in the deep inside mid pool this year going just before our second pick.
Hope we do something but looks unlikely now. Bet Crows take Roberson and Rivers
