Uuhhhhhh.... huuhhhhhh....

Had my list yesterday was Flanders, Kemp, Stephens. I had Jackson and Green ahead but they were no chance. Liked Ash as well.

I’m just happy we took one of them. Needed midfield help, got it.

The interview than will be crucial as long as the home visit.....also has connection to Buddy Franklin so might be a good role model....but yeah we don’t want another Byron Sumner....who had a lot of talent but not the drive..
The nature of the game these days, the player just absolutely HAS TO have that drive. Rare to find someone like Eddie Betts who has both the talent and the drive to get there to show it. Still AFL site (thus Twoomey I guess) says we are linked to him so...

Hope we land Schoe and then Biggie Nyuon or Brock Smith with the next two. Not a forward alive that is beating Biggie on the lead if he develops his craft. Smith can be the next...Smith for us down back by the look - had glandular fever so missed the combine, might drop him a bit to our 3rd pick.

We had until 10.45am to try to lodge Bartholomaues as a Category B rookie. Does anyone know if this has been done or if we've even shown interest in him? He's an inside mid and has been training with us.

No, just trying a bit of fun. Although I was serious about it being an issue.

Not understanding all the "shock and surprise" around our selection with Stephens at 5 Adelaide was going to take him at 6 right so??

Number five draft pick Dylan Stephens may be in for a culture shock after being drafted to the Sydney Swans.

AFL: Sydney to be a shock for Stephens

Sydney has pulled off the first shock of the 2019 draft
Sydney Swans throw first major AFL draft curveball to snatch star SA
prospect Dylan Stephens

Thats the headlines from multiple articles i have found its weird and bizaree
Meaning that because we run a watertight ship the VFL centric media didn't see it coming, all of them were on the Flanders train and that got derailed out of the top 10, stupid journo's!

Hope we get Deven Robertson. Despite everyone deriding Roberton for his kicking efficiency, it was slightly higher than Stephens at the U18 carnival.

Imagine we could have 3 Florents in our side. The front row at the SCG should be given helmets to mitigate WHS risks for the members of the public from misplaced kicks.

It is always interesting for the best 6 in a game.

Article states that Dylan Stephens stars with 33 possessions, 9 clearances and 6 tackles and NOT in the best 6 or any other U18s National games.

Every year, Carlton win the trade period and pillage the draft making fools of everyone.

Every year, Carlton is still awful.

There was a brief period where Mick Malthouse got involved where the vic media was like the dog who caught the car. They knew instinctively to write that Carlton had won the offseason again, but all the evidence said otherwise. They had no idea what to do ...

id trade up tonight to ensure we get robertson

No Schoe? Rivers video indicates he's a defender - and looks bloody good, but still.... Smith for our 3rd pick would be good.

Not a Schoenberg fan as much as I am of Rivers, Robertson and the defenders. Rivers did play a fair bit of footy in defence in the WAFL in a similar sort of role to Gould, but unlike Gould, he looks born to play in the guts and looked best when he was on the ball IMO.

Don't really get the Ash hate. He's the 2nd best player in the draft if you ask me, havn't seen that kind of explosiveness and stregth in the draft since dusty and danger. And a disposal efficiency of 80+% i think he was one of the most reliable kicks if not the best. I think we would've nabbed him if GWS didn't, i rekn stephens was 2nd choice.

Either way i'm happy with the Stephens pick, about time we start moving away from the bump and grind slow type mids. And with the academy kids coming in next year i don't think we need anymore mids. Next step should be nabbing a few of these silky indigenous kids that have proven to be the difference over the last few years. That Pickett that melbourne picked up looks the goods. Was shattered we missed out on Ian Hill last year. Have a feeling GWS pantsed us 2 years in a row trading for the pick ahead of us and taking our 1st choice. Taylor needs to be our pick 27, fingers crossed.

Not hate, Ash is a good player and deserving top 10 prospect but his kicking was not good. Stuff the DE%, he was a long-bomb-hack-kick culprit and that automatically puts him on my sh*t-list.

Agree with your point re moving away from slow mids.

Every year the Swans spring a “surprise.” It just means that we leak nothing and so the journos guess. The same is likely to happen with our next picks too. A lot of phantom drafts have us linked to Elijah Taylor but that is also just a guess because we probably met with him a couple of times.

We’ve also obviously met with Gould too because he was told by us to lose some kilos. I’d be happy if we selected him for two reasons. 1. He’s obviously a damn good footballer. 2. If we have selected him, he has knuckled down and done what was asked of him.

Either way, interesting night coming up.
