trying to find out how many games Joel Selwood played in his draft year 2006, any ideas?

if you have time, watch some games and form your own opinion.
Selwood played six games for Bendigo and maybe another four for Vic Country.

He was also coming off an underage year when he was an All Australian midfielder, the Most Valuable Player for Victoria Country, selection in the TAC Cup Team of the Year, AIS-AFL Academy membership, captaincy of the under-18s International Rules Series in Ireland, and the Ron Barassi Medal, as the Most Valuable Player of the tour. Fair resume.

Pesky facts, FAITH doesn't really need those to form an argument.

he wouldve gone 1 if not injured. so slipped 6 places i think due to a serious injury.

Actually listening to everyone on here about who we need or should get and all the various opinions I am now just so confused. Personally I want a mid who has clean hands, speed and can break away from the pack, who can kick the ball accurately and preferably with either foot. Who that is is just too confusing to pick. Mutineer">#Mutineer is the poster I feel knows more about who we should pick but he actually likes so many players and this confuses the shit out of me.

All I can say is thank god we have Hamish to sort this all out. Come on Wednesday. But will that be the end of all this. Nope. Everyone will be trying to tell everybody else how little they know and how much he/she knows. I can just see #FAITH and #Mutineer telling each other "see I told you so". Then it will be the excuses or reasoning. That should take at least another month.

Come on Wednesday (and Thursday)
The 2 mids with those abilities are Rowell and Anderson

The others don’t quite have same traits or are a bit speculative

I like mcasey at 6 because I think he’s the best player we can take there

I'd be very happy with mcasey. An extremely good intercept marker in defence but also can play key position forward just as well. I think he could be one of the players of the draft in years to come. He is a lot more than just a key position defender. I actually think Hamish would be drafting mcasey in the view of him being a key position forward.

Happily rookie him because he has plenty of talent but a bit of a way off the finished product, I suspect he'll get another year at the Rebels as an "over ager" if he goes undrafted similar to Jordy Butts at the Bushrangers. Will be cherry ripe by then but he's also a very talented cricket so I hope that doesn't beckon in the meantime. Sister Georgia is in the Aussie team currently.
I like him too , great rookie pick and has a bit of dash

Yep sounds like McAsey is a given for us at this point, not unhappy with that

Hoping that Hamish sees what I see in Rivers and trades up to grab him, could be the taller, classy, composed midfielder we need
Hamish said he watched a lot more school footy this year. I bet he saw a lot of McAsey there. If he chooses McAsey I’ll trust him for now.
He certainly won’t be a Gallucci pick. I don’t know what he was thinking there. I knew that was a fail from day one.

But have we ever selected a gun Vic Metro player who hasn’t walked out when clubs come calling?

I have this feeling that Stephens and Gould will both be available at our picks and we’ll overlook both.

Fischer McAsey set to step into the spotlight at the draft

Chris' son Fischer McAsey (pronounced Mack-A-See) is in the draft this week. He is tall, a very good contested mark, and has a canny understanding of where the ball will go next. Recruiters figure him as a key defender, but he can play many positions. It will be surprising if he is not taken in the first round; indeed it will be remarkable if he is still available by pick 15.

Who said he hadn't?

He was clearly the standout KPD at the 2019 Championships and the NAB League until injured as well.
Think a couple of posters thought Mcasy was exclusively a DEF

I think most of us thought Galucci was wrong, but he was heavily swayed by pykie apparently.
I can't see Big H takin McAsey tbh, think it's all media talk atm.

Can’t justify pick 6 on a key defender
Can pick them up later on in the draft
Gun midfielder is our need
Key positions covered for now down back

Talia
Hartigan
Kelly can play tall
Sholl
Hamill
Himmelburg
Doedee
What if the club has eyes on McAsy as a FWD though

If you're interested the results of the APS footy system are at the link, you'll see a lot of familiar names in the bests and goalkickers.

Not completely against taking McAsey at 6, but would be disappointed to not get an elite midfielder. I know we need both quality KPPs and mids, but picks inside 10 don’t come around often for us and all the elite midfielders are usually gone by 10. We might not get a better pick for one any time soon.

The elite mids could be gone by pick 3, hence we just go the best available.

pretty sure every crows supporter would choose doedee over hartigan and young would be a perfect replacement for keath as they are both interceptors. you can keep laughing at yourself though cos no no one is laughing with you.
I am Mick and I think you'd be surprised.
Keath is a KPD that intercepts.
Young is a medium running back that intercepts.

Melbourne - Pickett at 8?? Even Jackson at 3 is a bit of a waste. No wonder they've been shite for years. Should at least bid on Henry.

For the second year Port has trumped us at the trade table to get more top 20 picks than us. That sucks as I know the bastards are going to get Gould.
