So with Robertson still on the board do we try and trade up to 22? Surely he doesn’t slide 2 more spots

Cant believe he’s still there.

Was thinking about trades we could do today. I think you'll struggle to trade up much. Was wondering what trade down options there might be. With trades down tho, ideally you only go a couple of spots so you don't lose anyone you want but get some premium for doing so.

Anyway, I thought Essendon was one team with a pick not far behind us (turns out this is wrong, but my story digresses and this doesn't matter).

Then I pictured Dodoro asking us about x,y,z and I could just see us telling him to get f'd and saying remember the time you dicked us around when we wanted to do a trade?

This is yet another good thing about the ability to trade a larger pool of picks. If some club stiffed you in a player trade, its normally a long time, even these days where you would make another player trade with the same club with the player going in the opposite direction. With pick trades now though, they're way more common, so there's more incentive for clubs to play nice in various aspects cos if you make a prick of yourself with everyone (dodoro) then when it comes to picks everyone can just ostracise you.

Brisbane might take him I think, they seem to be linked to a grunt midfielder like him. Then again, they might also go down the Rantall route

Would be too good for us to pass up given his athleticism and inside game combo IMO, even if he’s something like what we already have

Not sure anyone could pick that Georgiades would be the only WA kid taken with an actual live pick.
I thought Georgiades would go quite a bit higher than people predicted once he showed recruiters the work he'd done at the Combine.

I could not believe the transformation from the skinny underdeveloped kid that stood out at the 2018 Championships to the big strapping lad that turned up at the Combine and tested brilliantly. That would have convinced recruiters because the talent was always there.

How about a North Melbourne trade?

24, 39 and the WB 2020 2nd
For
28 and 29?

With the players getting taken early, there's a deeper second tier pool. I think we get three great prospects at 25, 28 and 29.

I like this but still think we use Pick 24 and try to trade Pick 25 if we chase extra picks in the 20’s/early 30’s.

Sets us up beautifully and gives North some value next year to go with 25, 32 & 39 this year.

Is Mitch O'Neill an option at 39 if we take Robertson/Rantell with one (or both) of our next two picks? Or is O'Neill seen as a similar player as those two?

The point remains - WA were REALLY impressive at the Champs. Giorgiades looks like a decent medium forward or third tall, but he didn't even play in their Championship winning team. Even if it proves to be smart, it's a really surprising pick. There are players who are a lot more proven who haven't been taken.

So what’s everything’s thoughts on last night

Biggest surprise?
Disappointing moments?
Early Busts?

Hamish said they have a group of 25 players and he thinks most clubs will have the same group of 25, I doubt we want to move out of 25.

With Essential pick 3 and 4 on the board tonight, in a damn good spot considering what is left.

How does everyone seeing this one play out

I think despite a range of attractive offers Port use their pick and select Worrell.

Ditto Brisbane who select Robertson.

I'm deadset keen on Gould so I doubt Crows pick him! I think we pick someone else but also trade one of our 20's pick for a pick swap to somehow upgrade 45 into the 30's and then use 3 x 30's picks.

Would you consider our first next year for your second 2020 first next year and one of your seconds this year?

So,

Freo give up: pick 8 2020
Adelaide give up: pick 7 2020, pick 25 2020, pick 25 2019

When you put it like that... it seems a bit lopsided

So many good players left, surely we can score 2 of them hopefully. This is my wish list, two of these will be perfect

Deven Robertson
Jeremy Sharp
Will Gould
Harry Schoenberg
Elijah Taylor
Mitch O'Neill
