I guess DeLuca could still end up a Rookie chance

It would be pretty stupid to delist a guy, then invite him to pre-season training without a 50/50 chance of being rookie listed

Perhaps they had to make room from the senior list to fit in a DFA or 2...that would make sense I guess

Still got interest in Ben Keays?
Delisted today, though there was thought that he was heading GCFC way.

Keays lacks pace, so he's one worth having a look over, but they would have done that through NEAFL tape and scouting. I'd be hesitant, as this year was really his last chance to turn the corner.

I think that Deluca getting the chop directly relates to us probably picking up Sam Gray as a DFA.

Papley went from being a good small forward to someone that would single-handedly determine the success of our club going forward.

Read the main board, seems we have gone from top 8 contenders to a club consigned to the bottom 4 who should sack SOS, all because we didn’t get papley

If we get Martin in the PSD, and perhaps Newnes as a DFA, we're still taking #70 to the draft.

Where have you heard this?

I’m just using chronological reasoning:

1. We were linked to him in the media a little back prior to the trade period.

2. Our interest apparently subsided when all of the Papley media broke.

3. Papley deal breaks down, leaving us a small forward short of our plans.

4. Sam Gray was linked to us and St Kilda, and still remains unsigned.

5. Barass70 advises that Deluca is on shakey ground given we are pursuing Martin and Papley. We don’t get Papley ... yet we delist Deluca anyway.

If it's just Newnes (and Martin), then I also doubt it, but I think we'd like to keep something up our sleeves just in case we trade into the draft on the night. I'd doubt we'd not utilise our pick in the early 60s.

I think I was at around 10.

I was pretty firm on Fasolo, Phillips, Lobbe, Kerr and Schumacher being gone, and recognised that most of Pickett, Garlett, Lang and LeBois would go, and that Simpson and Thomas were mulling over retirement.

I'm also yet to be sufficiently impressed by Goddard and Cottrell.

Was just wondering for the record if you have found any definitive confirmation that pick 9 on it’s own with nothing coming back was officially offered for Papley ?

Still not sure that Lang is OOC, may have had an extra year on the contract to lure him across. Also can’t see Newman only signing for 1yr when he had interest from others (NMFC, GCFC).

SOS was queried if #9 was on the table for Papley and responded with it was part of it. Doesn’t give much away.
