The thing that really surprises me about this trade period is how Sydney have been so professional , They had every right too just laugh at the ridiculous demands of Essendon , But they have have remained a class act .

Don't agree. Mr Barrett says so even.

AFL.com.au journalist Damien Barrett believes Sydney must get the deal done after making a commitment to Daniher.

“He could have just sat back and done what Fantasia did and then said after all that I want to stay. He actually committed to the Swans publicly. They owe it to him,” Barrett said on Trade Radio.

Yeah, bugger him. Don’t need Danyle Pearce version 2.0
That's not a fair comparison at all. If anything, I often got the impression Danyle screwed up sometimes trying to do too much or trying too hard when his confidence was down.
He wasn't disinterested. If anything, he showed a bit more resilience than he should have had to, in the face of constant criticism.

I sometimes wonder at the intelligence level of people who subject players to a barrage of abuse over their careers and then wonder why players sometimes lose the joy of playing for a particular club.
In this case, a year after he retired, and you're still at it. Give it a rest.

Barrett has to be a Essendon supporter to think their trade demands are not so far off to not be considered ridiculous. I would be pissed off if Freo gave up pick 22 for him, The price demands would be considered appropriate after his 2017 season but not on 18&19 form.

Wow if you can’t hold a bloke at least another year of his two years to run contract , of which he’s already been paid a fair majority due to front loading -aka he’s essentially been paid for services not yet delivered,in turn stuffing around our salary structure- (if we d known he’d piss off after 2years or as soon as the money dropped we d never have signed off on it and front loaded one of our other players who actually deserved it) then good luck holding any players front loaded long term ever again or players to any contract for that matter.

He’s going back for money and a gold digging entitled insta missus(not fiancé, not wife just gf)... not cause of a sick parent, mental issues or any reason of sudden importance or genuine moralistic cause .

You reap what you sow.

And unless they’re wa players (I’m talking A graders)then we ain’t getting many coming back the other way either so don’t expect these things to “even themselves out”

Alcock and now belly* have crumbled cause of a bit of external pressure , pressure derived from those who couldn’t have their self interests and agendas at anymore polar opposites to the FFC.

In fact it’s starting to look like those in management positions at the club want as much to be liked as to be good(the irony here being come trade period next year bell and freo will again, inevitably be rubbished by the vic media as unreasonable regardless of what we do now-in fact they know (media)their biased agendas hit home and with effect so will only ramp up the attacks from here on in.

Anyway that’s my rant ,melt whatever ya want to call it..
onwards to the draft and try and do something that’s very very rare for Fremantles recruiters.. and that’s absolutely nail our first rounders this draft.

With 2 top 3 players now out the door in 2 years God knows the club needs to if we’re every to see the light of day of this rebuild.

*Edit I reserve the right to totally ignore this post and praise belly extensively if indeed we somehow get back something more substantial than the current so called agreed upon trade

I’m glad you got that off yah chest, as it seemed a large burden for 1 person to carry.

PS. Like your edit... shows you have cleared the baggage- :-$

We're being played here.

They know we're not going to walk away at this late stage, with no time to draw up a plan B. It's a shame that we allowed them to draw it out, but at least we traded down and got Howard and Ryder out of it first.

Fremantle short term winners, Bell gets the 2019 Dodoro Award and we'll just have to hope that Brad Hill was worth the high price. Well done for winning the trade Bell you POS.

:trophy:

Acres, Aish and Menadue on top of Colyer and Conca last year, on top of mature age pickups like Schultz and Bewley. We’re slowly filling out our list with C Graders who have an absolute ceiling of B Grade.

We should only recruit one of those first three if any. If we’re so keen on a Menadue, forget the others. Top end talent needs to be the focus. Hill is top end, two firsts is top end. It should be one or the other. Pick 10 + scraps is too compromising, unless those scraps can buy us another first rounder somehow. Bell needs to have clarity on this. Big picture is our list has far too many role players and not enough top end right now.

We don't have a choice between Brad Hill or two top tens, as much as I'd like it.

Hill wants out, so we take whatever we can get from the Saints or we risk getting something worse next year.

That’s why I mentioned earlier why our Melb trade for Langdon was light in our favour. Bell the cagey Fox has probably broked a deal with Mahoney

Think Melbourne traded up as they have someone in mind - no point bidding on Henry when it will be matched anyway - Melbourne may want Weightman? I'd want him at the Cats if he's still around at our first (or Sharp) - the kid will be a gun - has a fantastic attitude and is motivated to succeed - plus is an X factor. Freo could use him if he's available too - imagine Henry/Weightman in the same team as small forwards in 2/3 years - would be a defenders nightmare . . .

Good thinking Henry would have go home factor for you guys as well.

After having some time to think about Acres, the only positive I could come up with is that he won’t cost much and better he take a list spot so we don’t even think about a phone call to Bitey Mc Masten

From what i've seen Acres is pretty good - St Kilda played him out of position (which mid does well as a high half forward?), He's a mid and will thrive if that's where he plays at Freo - can kick, strong body, does the 1%er's and can run all day. Not sure why the Saints played him half forward and wing but that's not his gig. On the ball and in the stoppages is where he'll thrive.

Not sure why people aren’t happy. It’s Basically a full year of draft picks, that’s what we use to pay for players to come back to Freo back in the day and we all complained about the cost.

Fyfe feeding it out and Langdon on the other wing taking some heat really helped Bhill blossom in the purple.

2017-2019 will be his career best footy. Will bump this post in a few years time.
Maybe right , Wind conditions tend to dictate which flank you attack from. Brad will be a good player for St Kilda because he will never be tagged. If he starts getting more recognition and receiving hard tags then watch this space.

After thinking about it a bit, I have to say I don’t like having Acres in the deal.
I don’t know enough about Acres, but I’ll take the consensus in Bigfooty that he’s a 2nd or 3rd round equivalent.
But he does not seem like a player we needed at the moment.
I feel the only reason he is in the picture is so Bell can save face that he won the deal ( without involving their 2020 first round). Oh look, we got a pick 3 (2 1st round) equivalent in points! We win!
I’ll admit St Kilda player their hand really well, and we seem to be only able to get what they offered, not what we wanted.

To be honest, I think we should just play hard back. As a supporter, I see a no deal as a win.
If we really rate Acres, offer them our 3rd round pick for him separately.
Then turn around and demand their future 1st as part of their deal for Hill.
Hill is a 3 time premiership player. He showed leadership on field when half our team have already thrown in the tower mid game. If St Kilda is not willing to recognized that and give up his due worth, I’ll say just walk.
