It would be unfortunate to lose that #10 to a bid at either #8 or #9.

To me #7 and #10 gives us the dilemma of picking which player won't make it to #10 at #7 rather than the best available at #7. Similar to Brayshaw, Cerra

Unless Henry goes before ten, I'm not concerned...

The quality up until about 25 is pretty good

They don't realise the player they got then
I agree. Brad Hill in the hand is better than speculative picks.

Would we trade #10 and 2x 2020 2nds for him back right now? On $900,000 a year for five?

...probably not.

Jesse's shitstirring is elite areas

We'd be mad not to be making a nuisance of ourselves in the Jack Martin negotiations - we have a number of ways to offer up the supposed valuation that isn't being met by Carlton. If the Carlton deal starts looking unlikely, at what point does coming home become an option?

That deal is terrific for us, people got lost in the Morris bullshit thinking Hill was better than he was given the proposed "demands" we made.

Like I've said before, Hill is worth about 10 uncontracted, I dont think many here would disagree much. So, on top of that, we got a future 2nd and a current 3rd. Acres was effectively chucked in for the future downgrade as free. We'll use the future 4th of 58 for Aish

We are going to turn Hill and a future 3rd( Mayne if you want) into
a) two best 25 players
b) Pick 10
c) Pick 25ish
d) a 4th or 3rd (Depending on the Aish deal)

I'm sorry but that's a terrific return. if we hit just one of those draft picks we come out ahead...

Someone mentioned it before but I think our target is GC's pick 15

They wont need it badly and they can bank some assets for next year that will be prety juicy.

I'd be talking tro them and get it in agreement that come draft night, they send 15 to us for 2 of our futures once we know what we are paying for Henry.

Its a nice little sweet spot

what was your point before re we can trade 2020 1st now...was that because we needed a 2020 4th reinstated?
Correct. I thought that us getting back a 2020 4th would give us a full set of picks to free up our 2020 first... but we also traded our future third.

I expect we can still get by having three 2020 2nds to trade our 2020 first if required.

I really like this trade occurring right as #14 is called on draft night.

We also have the 3rd most for next year too behind Gold Coast and North with (based on this years ladder position) 6, 21, 24, 25, 60.

What would you describe it as if we effectively gave up Hill and a 3rd for a future 2nd, future 4th, 58 and Acres due to 10 being eaten by a Henry bid? My phrasing was Hyperbolic but it should be a real concern
Utter shambles is high drama.

10 will be fine. In fact 10 will move back one spot to 11 with green bid and still be fine.

If Freo have a genuine concern Trade up with Melbourne. After further pick swaps with GWS shortly Melbourne will have 6 & 8.

Trade 10 + future 2020 > 8 and future 2020 3rd. My understanding is we can even do this as late as draft night, say Melbourne bid Henry at 8 we can then go and trade 10 (& future 2020 2nd) for two later picks like Geelong’s 14 and 17 for eg. 14 moves up to 8 and we get 17 and 22. Having a heap of 2020 2nd rounders whilst not my preferred does give us room to move.

Pick trading can still occur according to AFL.com.au until 21 November.
