Their 2020 1st could be 17 or 18 and then after father son / academy picks, blow out well into the 20's. If it was with a club we thought would tail off and give us a top 10 pick next year, then yeah..I'd do the deal as GC will want a couple of goo picks next year when they hand over Lukosius (I expect that is the only reason why we would even consider going down this path - and to free up salary cap)

Oh shit no thanks... thats three mediocre 1st rounders for what should be a class player at pick 4. Particularly given the sheer number of NGA and FS players pushing that pick out in 2020. We need more quality, not more just ok players.

I'd barely do it even if their pick 7 was involved.

I think the pick swap looks pretty good with asymmetric upside if Gws have a worse year than top 4. Top 4 draft pick guarantees absolutely nothing. Hamish knows the spread of talent better than anyone. Also with the live trading having extra currency means we have more manoeuvrability as well.

Actually, it doesn't as it would add another first rounder to our pool (though for 2020).

It's an aggressive move to rebuild a squad, especially when the goal of squad building is to obtain as many top line players as possible, in which, this would increase our chances of achieving that (I do remember % from Scorpus a while back which support this, or my memory isn't great, one or the other). The thing I'm coming back to is this a sign that we're really confident in our NGA next year?

Next gen academy. We have Edwards (FS), and apparently some very enticing prospects there next season.

I couldn't picture there would be a reason you'd gun for a first-round pick next year unless Hamish thinks we have a bumper crop next year.

I’d probably be the only person on here that actually fancies this trade. Pick 4 doesn’t guarantee a superstar player like some people are suggesting. The difference between 4 and 12 in this draft isn’t actually that big either. The top 20-30 in this draft is quite even except for Rowell and Anderson so even pick 18 will be decent.

Their 2020 first is a bit of an unknown could be anywhere from 10-18 you’d think. Our recent strike rate in the first round has been good too. Think Milera, Doedee, Gallucci and Fogarty.
