So what's everyone's thoughts from here.
I'd be happy to go to the draft with our picks. I think our list is in pretty decent shape in terms of youth VS experiance.
I'd like to bring in sam murray on the cheap for some run and carry and that's about it.
Looks like we're gonna have to back in Durdin McKay Tarrant and Daw and the key backs.

Need some luck with Injuries for a change so our Vfl can actually pressure players for spots. Jacobs Hall Tyson Walker etc
I think it depends on a few factors which we as non-inner scrotum types don't have the mail on, like:
  1. Will Maj get back to full fitness and be able to play at the levels pre-injury?
  2. Do we rate Durdin and McKay highly enough internally to lock down on key positions at AFL level?
  3. What is Will Walkers post injury capabilities / status as far as 2020?
  4. Benny Jacobs???
  5. Prospects for Aaron Hall in 2020?
  6. Capability to cover our deficiencies with lack of small forwards, midfield pace, etc. etc.
As with any season lots of unknowns, particularly around injuries, but there is a lot of other internal knowledge that we just need to trust that the club knows our capabilities best.

We have 8, 27, 47 and 73.
Over the last few years we have drafted well. We have a good bunch of young kids.
I think it is our best interest to add to that group.
This can be done in a few different ways.
Picking up a young player for example Dougal Howard.
Or drafting the best available, which is my preference.
I'm uncertain how many list spots we have currently.
I think its the minimum 3. (once Zurhaar is upgraded.)
Anyone know?

We have 5 senior list spots available. One of those will be used to upgrade Bull. So, at this stage, we have 4 picks to take to the draft.

Eddie Betts is officially a Carlton footballer again, six years after walking out to Adelaide.

The Blues and Crows have arrived AFL HQ to lodge paperwork. Future fourth-round pick heads to the Crows. More @AFLcomau @traderadio

8+27 should net us a decent player.
47 and 73 are expendable.
Murray as a dfa starts to look ok in comparison to pick 73.

Has anyone ever pulled aside Adelaide or Carlton and informed them they're allowed to trade with other clubs too?

I don't know a thing, but i doubt we should be relying on any of the above. I still think we may get 200 solid games out of Durdin, but the rest is just hope.

I'd be happy if we just go to the draft. I think being active for the sake of it isn't the way to do it, we did that last trade period with two successes and two that fizzled. Clubs wanting the moon for average/good players like Howard and Fantasia is ridiculous. Rather we keep building around the young group we have through draft. Take some mids and small forwards with early picks, kp with later picks or rookies.

I heard an American bloke say the other day that Australians shouldn't be too cute on rubbishing Adelaide, because Australia is the Adelaide of the world.

at least he knows where Australia is !

try having a conversation with an American about New Zealand...The best you get is "aint that some state near Utah"

pretty crappy to try improve a footy list.
Ideally I'd like to see us swap our first next year and improve our position this year. The draft next year is looking like a shit show the way it's going to be compromised by the academies.

There's not much worth trading for at the costs being bandied about this year so if we can't improve our draft picks this year I'm happy for Rhyce to see just what he can get out of the players we have and whoever we draft in.
