I like where this is heading now. We could carve out a niche as the destination club for underappreciated brothers. If we chucked Sam Gray, Brad Crouch, Ben McKay and even our Coach into a support group run by a top quality Sports Psych we could unlock their genetic potential and turn them all into superstars. Scotty Selwood would cost nothing and could join as well. Then we could throw the kitchen sink at Shaun McKernan.

Regardless he averages 30 touches, 5 inside 50s and 2 rebound 50s per game. More than any of our midfielders.

Imagine what he could do if he was able to "gut-run".

Think you may have missed my point. I don’t consider him quick or slow and it doesn’t really matter provided he can work to where he needs to be and those stats you put up suggest that’s exactly what he does.

Mick Stevens , Shane Harvey, Brady Rawlings ... we have lots of form.

Who's Sam Gray related to?

Crouch ran under 3 sec in the draft combine. He definitely has acceleration off the blocks.

Any injuries since then could have affected that, like maybe years of OP?

Whoa, the Schnozz was the good brother! Also never minded getting the ordinary younger brother when the older one more than paid for both spots (see also, Schimmelbushes), so would have happily had young McKernan in that category.

Schnozz was, but wasn't rated that way externally.

DOUGAL HOWARD

Howard has spoken to Essendon, St Kilda, North Melbourne …

"I think Dougs played the first half of the year as a defender, and the second half of the year as a forward. He's a contracted player for us … and I think he's got more chance for us as a forward.

"He's got to work out what he wants from his own career.

"Throughout the trade period there's the opportunity for us to look at different things we can do.

"We want players to be at our club who want to be at our club.

"He's contracted long-term and I don't see any reason why that would change, but he's got some decisions to make about where he wants to play.

"We have to make decisions now that are in the best interests of our club in the short and long term and we're a pretty pragmatic club – if things need to get done we generally get them done."

Translation: Dougal wants out.

need him at our club, he clearly wants to play back and we have spots for him to do that. Hope we sell the club well enough for him.

The biggest in this season should be a more defensive mindset when we don't have possession of the ball.

Interesting listening to Hardwick and the changes between 2016 and 17 that produced the premiership. He said he found they were coaching the players too much and not playing to their strengths. He said they stripped down the offensive game, making it more on instinct and skill while putting a greater focus on the defensive structure as the learning part.

Brad was always more science than art and you can see that the players looked, restricted, at times. We don't have a tonne of consistent players but a lot of players have some X factor in the forward line. I would love to see this approach in our game plan next year.

That didn’t last long ...
Mitch Cleary: There could be something at play with Sam Powell-Pepper. Dougal Howard has also met with the Bombers. If it's not Powell-Pepper, it could be Dougal Howard that becomes part of the dealings for Orazio Fantasia.

That’s the only reason why * were brought into conversation a week ago.

Found Hardwicks comments interesting and got me thinking. Slightly off topic but Im wondering if his (Scotts) coaching style is the reason why his name has not been tabled for the various coaching roles. His inability or inflexibility in "adapting" potentially leading to his demise and lack of suitors....IMO.

Surely you can both tell the difference between an 18 year old unknown small forward, compared to an elite small forward who has proven himself at the top level.
Carlton are not picking a speculative 18 year old small forward, who may or may not make it. They’re using their pick on a proven A grade small forward who has already developed into an elite player.

Count the total number of small forwards currently playing who would be worth pick 9 over the sum of their careers. Hint: if you cut off one-and-a-half of your hands you should still have a finger left to pick your nose with.

We can debate this all day, but you actually have no idea what so ever, you’re just hoping for the best. Why the f*ck would Zurhaar want to stay at a Club that is paying him $130k+

Rawlings, Young and Zurhaar met...fact.
McMahon put a 3 year deal forward...fact.
Zurhaar rejected the deal.

Early days and Zurhaar will be there in 2020, but if he does so on his current contract of $130k+, then he definitely won’t be there in 2021.

My guess is they will reach reality and announce a new 3 year deal, it might just take an offer from somewhere else which often happens.

No you have no idea, he is not up for free agency for another 3 years. If he wants to leave then it will be trade only and I doubt you have any idea what he is thinking, just pure speculation passing it off as in the know.
