Geez, you’ve got Matt Rowell saying going to the Suns won’t be “too daunting” as the most positive thing he can say, and Greenwood’s manager openly saying the Suns were his safety fallback option after Brisbane didn’t offer enough.

Sucks a bit of oxygen out of the positivity of the rescue package.

Don't cry because it's over.

Smile because it happened.

Rest well, sweet prince.

You will never be forgotten.

He won us games (6:16)

No fuss. Pure class. One of the best NEAFL players of all time. Dominated the seconds and did a job when he needed to this year.

He'll be brewing up in the coffee club in the sky now.

Still can't believe he's gone

You have to laugh at greenwood then haggling over a year between two clubs at opposite ends of the ladder. Later bruv

Yeah I felt a little sick listening to Rowell talk. Hopefully it's just a lack of media training or he was nervous, otherwise I'd be scared to build a club around him.

That being said, schache was much more bullish about being drafted to the lions than Rayner or Cluggers were pre draft and look how that turned out

In my opinion Witherden will be fighting hard to be in our best 22 in season 2020 so allocating him as the defensive general next year is not gonna happen. My advice to Alex would be: get off social media, stay away from all camera's wherever possible, find yourself a professional running coach & concentrate 100% on lifting your running up to AFL standard.
As for a surprise in this trade period, I agree 100% that there will be a player come to us that we haven't detected on the radar yet.

I think you are way off the mark. I think he was very much groomed in Hodges role and he has a brilliant Footy IQ for a guy his age. whether he is the back-line general next year is up for debate, but he is very much a guy who is capable of that role, he is always giving out instructions and him and Hodge chat the whole game. I also think he doesn't do an excessive amount of social media? not sure what you're implying there? stay away from cameras? he has done a few posts during the last couple of weeks but not a serial offender throughout the year. He keeps a pretty low profile. I agree he can and should improve his running but he will never be a great runner / line breaker, his disposal is his tool. He has just finished his third year of football and we get an extremely, high level, professional service from him given how young he is. I think he needs to add a few more strings to his bow but we are generally on an absolute winner there, came in at an astonishingly high level and has been a big contributor to our rise.

This is an article by Ben Waterworth who gets paid to write this rubbish o_O

Adelaide could ask for Brisbane’s natural third-round selection (Pick 34) in exchange for Ellis-Yolmen. But considering the midfielder is set to sign a four-year at the Lions, according to AFL Media, don’t be surprised if the Crows push a little harder.

1. Our third round selection is not 34
2. It’s a 3 year deal
3. He’s an unrestricted free agent

WOW! How the hell did it get through the editing/fact checking process?

Looks like he fixed up the error.

Would still like to see Witherden in the middle / half forward area -his precise kicking into the 50 could be a potent weapon.

- STK with picks 6 & 57 (could use pick 16 on Hill)
- CARL with picks 9 & 41 (could use pick 16 on Papley)

I think both Papley and Hill are worth more than pick 16. Papley is very much worth a mid-first rounder IMO. If I were Carlton, I'd happily hand pick 9 over. Hill's the better footballer but he's three years older than Papley.

I was just about to post similar. Also, lets not forgot how ol' Belly loves a feather in his cap when it comes to trade week. Freo will drive a hard bargain on Hill. Carlton will have a bit of wheeling & dealing to do to make their targets of Papley & Martin come off. Papley is contracted for few years at the Swans. At least with the Suns current concessions they are more likely to deal with some future picks. I'd be asking for Carlton's 2020 first rounder for Martin as a starting position.

Reckon the most likely means for us to move up will be to the Doggies 13. I think it would be mutually beneficial too, so not a scenario where one pays a premium for the move, but may involve three or more clubs. It's not a big move though, so you'd want to have a specific target in mind that you don't think would be there at 16.

Papley is an absolute gun on what I've seen and will only get better as he gets stronger

GC List manager Craig Cameron expects Ah Chee to go through reasonably smoothly (and potentially early) in the trade period.

I know this is not how and works and that GC don’t owe us anything, but I’d be pretty disappointed if they drove a hard bargain for Ah Chee considering the package they have received. Hopefully they let him slide to us for a latish pic. ‘This would be good for Queensland football’

With the Dogs pick trade I'd wait till pick 13 to see if it's worth 16 + 21. There may be a slider at that stage that likely won't last until pick 16.

Ideally tho would like to upgrade to the Blues pick 9

Our dealings with Freo last year should be a guideline. Bell will be dictating that Hill's a contracted player his price will be worth 2 x 1st round picks putting them in a great spot to snare Kelly

How about Robertson to Adelaide greenwood to gcs and ah Chee to us. We probably do best out of it but all teams are getting a borderline 22 player.

Re: witherden I think his lack of pace as the backline general will be a lot better hidden next year without hodge beside him as an even slower player.

We haven’t said anything about getting experience to replace hodge we’ve said ‘we need a half back to replace hodge and to get more speed/run into our back half’.

I was thinking what we lack is a Josh Drummond. rich can kick with the same length, Witherdon when he is on, with the same accuracy. The combination of Rich and Witherden gives us Drummond who could hit our forwards on the chest going over a line rather than running through one. then we don't have a forward like Brown/Lynch/Bradshaw leading at the ball carrier consistently. I don't mind our backline if our forwards have different running patterns but if we stay the same in the forwards then I'm with the majority of a beckman who runs through the lines.
