I used to be pretty much the same. Now I just go to whatever missus or kids want.
Jut sit and cop it.

Whipped!

Nah kidding. Why cant you just see what you want, then your wife goes with the kids? Trade off with eachother too- re. who goes with the kids.

You sit in the movie and dont talk anyway.

Same here

The local video shop (like not even a 5 minute walk) also had video games (NES & SNES) for your, or you could book a session to spend an hour playing the game of your choice on one of the machines in the shop - it was only a couple of dollars for an hour's hire, so that used to be given a workout with SNES games as I only had a NES at home, with Donkey Kong the game of choice

When they were closing they sold all stock, so I ended up buying a good number of NES games from them to extend the collection

So miss those days
F**k yeah I remember that. Getting to play mega drive/ super NES games when you didn't have one.
I remember if you were allowed to hire out a game for a weekend too it was awesome!
And on Sunday you were really sad when you had to take it back.

I just don't care enough anymore. I can wait for any movie to come out on internet or whatever these days.
Movies are more just for an outing to go to Highpoint or Crown and get some food and shit tbh.

That, fantasy and sci fi can go EAD.

Anything re. comedy (the darker the better), drama, action, thriller, and the occasional horror and arthouse is what I'll go to the movies for.
I know you said you aren't a fan of sci-fi but you (and everyone else) need to see Arrival (2016). Its about humans having first contact with aliens and how they develop a communication mechanism. This description doesn't do the movie justice because it's fascinating, intense and emotional all at the same time.

Easy top ten movies for me.

One of my brothers would take a game back to the video store that he didn't like ..he would say I need to return/ swap this game mum said he's its got much violence in it.
He would get a more violence game....😀.

Our local would also hire out the machines on a weekly basis - guessing that required a decent refundable deposit so people didn't just keep the machine

For the mid-year school holidays in 93 my dad hired a NES & a few games for me - after the first week when it had to be returned, my dad tried to hire it for the second week, so I could finish a game I had started, but was unable to do so as it had been booked by someone else

That night, we drove into Geelong to pick up mum from work (my dad was retired by this stage, mum worked but didn't drive/have a drivers licence), and after picking her up, dad drove to Kmart in Belmont and bought a NES

LOl- remember the fee they charged you if you forgot to rewind the tape.
This wasn't from video store, but back in the early 90s as a late Xmas present, my brother gave me the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie on video (totally in love with the original Turtles), and the cool thing about the video is that cassette was green

It didn't take long for me to put it in VCR to watch, only problem is that what played was the end credits - my brother watched the movie before giving it to me but forgot to rewind it, lol

I bought the back to back pack Essendon 84/85 for my dad for xmas.

In it there were 2 videos on birds or some shit :confusedv1:

Annoyed af, had to drive back to HP and get them changed over.

That would of been sweet! Such a good way to get a present.
I never got to hire a whole machine unfortunately. Was just way too much of a pain in the arse with deposits and stuff I think.

Cats supporters, I'm an American that fell in love with the game almost 5 years ago, and am proud to call myself a Cats supporter. Last December, I began a footy podcast (not specific to the Cats, but rather trying to learn as much about the game and the history as I can), and over the last couple of weeks, I sat down to talk with supporters of many clubs, including Geelong. I'm sharing a link to the episode where I spoke with a Port supporter and a Cats supporter. I'd love for you to check it out, and I'm thrilled to be a supporter of the Greatest team of all. Thank you in advance, and cheers!

Never did that
Once when I was living in Geelong Video Ezy in Belmont kept sending me letters for ages saying I hadn't returned a movie.
I kept going in there and saying I didn't borrow it and they wouldn't let me hire out movies.
Then they got a collection agency on to me.
Then when I moved out I took the fridge and it was under there!
I didn't even remember hiring it.
Like 9 months.
It was one of the Evil Dead movies. (Not the good one where he sticks the chainsaw in his arm stump)
I just chucked it in the bin.

Did any of you kents I mean beautiful people.
See the fresh Prince of bel-air reunion?

Anyone used to watch the show?
I didn't watch it much.
Saw the bit where Will Smith had to apologise to Aunt Viv for being a real campaigner.
Haven't watched the actual reunion though.
Used to watch it back in the day though. Was on after school. Was funny at the time.
