If the Crows offer pick 20 for Ladhams then we may use it in the draft or trade for a key defender.
Have you joined the recruiting team? We need in 2020 and 2021 an experienced tall KPD rather than an 80kg kid.

Our recruiters seem to pick certain drafts to have multiple picks and it seems like this is one there happy not go hard on.
We don’t really know this yet. Until we see what they do in trade week I’m not sure we can make this assumption.

I do know having 2 nga’s / f/s and a lack of list spots could limit how many we will take in this draft

If the Crows offer pick 20 for Ladhams then we should tell them to fu** off.
He's got far to much up side & talent to be trading. If need be, tell him to clear out his locker and he come come back for pre season and to assess his options and consider if he wants to remain here then he needs to meet minimum standards. Having to sit on the side lines away from the club watching us play finals (and hopefully win a flag) knowing he pissed his spot away being stupid should be a massive rocket and go a long way to address what is obviously a professionalism issue.

You would't have thought Chris Davies would say Pete needs to work out if he was the professionalism required on the back of a one off incident.

This draft looks stong for KPD. Hopefully we trade for an early pick so we can get one of them before a bid on Jones. Alternatively depending on where the below players are rated we could match a Jones bid then trade for a pick using futures.

Zach Reid and Nik Cox both have the hight we need but Denver Grainger-Barras and Heath Chapman both look like good options as well.

Zach Reid
202cm/82kg
2/3/02
Gippsland Power/Vic Country
Key defender

Reid highlighted his promise last year, playing 15 games for the Power in the NAB League. His versatility will appeal to clubs – he has been used at both ends of the ground as well as in the ruck – but is settled best when in defence. A competitive tall who uses his height and strength and a good mark. Among the group of exciting talls at the top end.

Nik Cox
199cm/82kg
15/1/02
Northern Knights/Vic Metro
Key forward/defender

An athletic tall with big upside. Cox did some exciting things in the NAB League last year, playing a range of positions and averaging 12 disposals and five marks as well as booting nine goals. Cox tends to play as a forward option and enjoys flying for grabs – something he produced while in Vic Metro's under-18 line-up last year too – but also can run, which has seen him used on the wing at stages and in key defence.

Denver Grainger-Barras
195cm/78kg
17/4/02
Swan Districts/Western Australia
Key defender

Grainger-Barras is one of the group of exciting tall prospects placed near the top of this year's crop. He highlighted his aerial exploits in last year's title-deciding championships game for Western Australia, when he starred against Vic Country with several strong marks. As a tall, versatile defender Grainger-Barras then debuted at WAFL level for Swan Districts, where he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Grainger-Barras has good take off speed and is a competitor, and continues to build his aerobic capacity.

Heath Chapman
193cm/81kg
31/1/02
West Perth/Western Australia
Key defender

Chapman is a member of Western Australia's talented tall defenders group. He is an athletic option who gets around the ground, and can dip in and mark well to kick-start an offensive chain. The rangy backman featured in last year's NAB All Stars 'Futures' clash and is considered a top-20 talent.

Sorry but this is ridiculous. Having the two pronged ruck division of Ladhams and Lycett is a massive part of even being a flag threat. Having Pete sit on the sidelines just prove a point would just be shooting ourselves in the foot. You can't just expect to be a contender with one of our best players this year not playing.

The Tiser has opined on the top 30 draft picks this year in SA.

The usual suspects are there (Thilthorpe) but if we decide to trade out a ruckman then these are the other top prospects:

ZAC PHILLIPS (Woodville-West Torrens)18, ruckman 200cm, 80kg

Ranking points: 84 (U18)

He’s raw but the Eagles’ under-18 skipper is a hardworking big man who has been dominant at times in 2020. The 18-year-old doesn’t only get his hands on the ball in the ruck, he has a great ability to follow-up, tallying 10 disposals or more in all but one match this year and finishing with 14 or more three times.

HENRY SMITH (Woodville-West Torrens) 17, ruckman 202cm, 82kg

Ranking points: 84 (U18)

Zac Phillips may have taken over as the Eagles’ No. 1 ruckman this year but the 202cm big man has showcased his talent as a strong-marking key-forward this season. The 18-year-old is still very much a developing prospect but his ability at ground level is what sets him apart from others of his size.

Eagles talent manager Darren Hams says: “He’s actually one of the best players in our group for ground balls. For someone that tall, he’s really elite.

NED CAREY (Norwood) 17, ruckman 198cm, 89kg

Ranking points 2020: 94 (U18)

The talented Carey is a difficult prospect to assess given his battle with injury over the past 18 months.. The super-competitive big man, who loves to crash packs, only manged eight under-18 matches last year but still did enough to earn a place in SA’s 2020 AFL Academy Hub. Carey, a developing, mobile tall, who has shown the ability to play in the ruck and a key-position at either end of the ground, will get his first chance to impress recruiters this year when he lines up for Rostrevor on Saturday.

DANIEL FAHEY-SPARKS (Sturt) 22, key forward/ruckman 196cm, 92kg

Ranking Points: 102 (League)

Late-blooming tall is very athletic and boasts terrific hands. Is quick for his size, has a high leap and covers the ground extremely well.
Is capable in the ruck and has turned into a strong-leading, goalscoring forward for Sturt, kicking eight for the season.

Grima says: “Dan’s largely had to play as an undersized ruckman at our club and he’s only played 25 league games. He’s started to play more forward in recent weeks and his game against Glenelg (in round six) when he was on Max Proud and had Chris Curran in his space – they are high quality players – he took five contested marks. Against North (in round seven) he managed to kick two goals on a day we lost our forward structure. He has the ability and attitude to be an elite player in the SANFL and I think he has AFL attributes.’’

Question.... If Adelaide bids on Ugle-Hagan with pick 1 and as expected the Dogs match the bid, does ever club lose draft point value as they get re-ordered? Or do they keep there original value?

for example Port’s expected pick 25ish is worth 756pts, does that become 729pts? Or is it still 756pts but is pick 26.

I ask as Port’s pick 25ish is likely to become more like pick 40ish.... (but Jones will go much higher than that)

They get revalued

Comment on Jones from the main draft thread based on playing league on the weekend:

It was a pretty tough night for Jones. He started in defence and then got moved forward in the second half before getting moved back to defence in the last quarter. His upside is pretty clear. He's just so physically strong and flashed a bit of break-away speed on Friday night. Pair that with a long, penetrating kick and you've got some intriguing weapons. He definitely looks to have the flexibility to play on a few different types as a medium defender and looks a particularly good match up for those powerful midfielders who rest forward which could provide very valuable at AFL level.
